I wake up due to my phone ringing. 10:57 pm.
"Hello?" I say groggily.
"Hi, is this Layla Elliott?"
"Yes this is she"
"I'm Bri from Halifax Health Medical Center" she says, which makes my heart drop, thinking of the worst.
"I'm just calling to inform you that your brother Chase Elliott, has been in an accident"
"I-Is he okay?" I ask. "He's suffered a critical hit at the track, and is in surgery now."
"Okay, I'm on my way" I say hanging up, before booking a last minute flight to Florida.

After a few hours, I arrive at the hospital making my way to the front desk.
"The maternal and newborn care unit is on the second floor" the nurse says.
"Uhm not in labor" I say, which causes her to look me up and down.
"Are you sure?" she asks.
"Yes, believe me I'd know if I was in labor. Now what room is Chase Elliott in?" I say which causes her face to turn red in embarrassment.
"He's in room 102." "Thank you" I say annoyed, making my way to room 102. I walk into the room, seeing an unconscious Chase with Ryan, Mom, and Dad. well this is gonna be a shit show...
"Uh how's he doing? It was soooo nice to get a call from you guys, telling me that my brother was in an accident. " I say sarcastically, which causes the three of them to look at me, their eyes landing on my stomach.
"Uhm?" I say putting a hand on my stomach.
"Well you disappeared, never called, and we obviously know why. You got knocked up" My dad says, which causes me to let out a laugh.
" You just proved my point on why I didn't tell you, I knew you would react like this"
"Do you even know who the father is?"
"Wow dad, do you really think that low of me?" I say
"W-" he starts but is cut off by my mom.
"Enough Bill! That is our daughter you're talking about, s-" she starts but is cut off.
"What happened?" I hear a groggy Chase say, which causes my head to snap towards the hospital bed.
"Hey lil bro, how you feeling?" I say, walking up to Chase's bedside.
"Like I got hit by a truck"
"well close I guess" I say which causes him to laugh, but holds his stomach groaning in pain.
"Don't make me laugh, it hurts" he says sitting up.
"How long was I out? 9 months?" Chase says, referring to my very pregnant stomach.
"Haha, very funny" I say, rolling my eyes.
"So how long until I'm an uncle? Also why didn't you tell me?" Chase says practically pouting when he asks why I didn't tell him. "Well for one I didn't really tell anyone, and I'm 38 weeks, so in about 2 weeks if baby girl doesn't decide to make her appearance sooner"
"Ooooh I can't wait to spoil her" Mom says, coming up beside me giving me a side hug.

After about an hour, I make my way to the cafeteria in need of something to eat, after all I'm eating for two.
"Hey Layla! Wait up!" I hear, I turn around to see Ryan running after me.
"Hey Ryan, do you think we could talk in the cafeteria? I'm starving" I say, in which he nods, so we continue the walk to the cafeteria. I order some mac and cheese before we go sit down.
"So what's up?" I ask.
"Is the baby uh mine?" he asks nervously.
"Well if you do the math" I say, trying to lighten up the mood.
"Layla, I'm serious" he says, making eye contact with me.
"Well congrats Ryan your gonna be a father"
"Why didn't you tell me?" he asks.
" I was scared.I was worried what you would say, I already got my heart broken by you, my heart couldn't handle anymore, and I didn't want this baby to have to go through that" I say with tears in my eyes. His eyes immediately soften, as he puts his hand on top of mine in a comforting way.
"Layla, The morning you walked out on me, I was gonna tell you how I felt, and how I made a really big mistake when I told you that we should just be friends. Now if you'd give me another chance, I'll be there for you, and our baby for the rest of my life. I promise" he says, as I start crying, the pregnancy hormones getting the best of me.
