LaurelPaw's POV
As I sat up outside the apprentice den 3 kits scuttled up in front of me.
"Are you a real twoleg?" Asked the first one in a squeaky kit voice, his pelt was grey with black speckles around his paws.
"Of course she is mouse brain!" Called the second, her pelt was golden with brown spots up her back. "Didn't you see her earlier AshKit?"
The third padded at my tail curiously. His grey pelt with golden paws fluffed up.
"I'm still not sure SunKit..." Mewed AshKit, "what do you think JayKit?"
"I don't know but either way it's amazing!" JayKit's voice went high pitched with excitement.
A queen hurried out of the nursery.
"JayKit? SunKit? AshKit? Are you bothering LaurelPaw?" She mewed, I think DustyStar told me about her on my way to the moonstone. She was golden with white paws and her name was GoldenStripe. She shuffles the kits inside and I was alone again.

RunningPaw's POV

I stalked a mouse quietly through the rushes. It hadn't sensed me before it was too late. I pounced and bit it so it died. A rustle in the bush beside me startled me and I got ready to pounce on a probable attacker. The leaves parted and I jumped on the small black cat as a yowl of distress came from the lump of fur now under my paws.
"Get off me! Your squishing me!" I instantly recognised LittlePaw.
"Sorry." I mewed jumping off and ducking my head. SparrowPaw and CloudPaw emerged behind her with fresh kill in their mouths.
"We're taking this back to the clan." CloudPaw told me.
CloudPaw's litter mates died in leaf bare along with my only sister. I vividly remember ShrewKit and SootKit dying of hunger while CloudPaw got through it. My sister, FallPaw, died in an accident on the thunderpath. BreezeHeart was her mentor and a monster swerved off the path and hit her. She stayed alive to say goodbye but it only made me more hopeful she was going to survive. It was our first time out.

We got to our clan and stocked up the fresh kill pile. But I suddenly didn't want to relax in my warm nest. I went to the river and looked at the sun setting in it's reflection. However my senses were soon tensed as I smelled a new cat behind me.

I pounced at the unexpecting she cat as she struggled to get out of my grasp but she did and barrelled me. I gasped as I stared at the bursting fast river and dreaded being pushed in. I pushed the cat off me hissing and heard a yowl as the she cats head emerged from the river. I gulped. I didn't mean to push her inso I ran. I ran across the river bank and reached my paw in to grab her struggling soaked pelt but missed it by a mouse step.
"Hang on to the bank!" I called as she obeyed and held on. I grabbed her up by the scruff and dragged her on to the bank.
"I'm thunderclan!" She said through coughing, "this is ThunderClan territory I'm allowed to be here!!"
My eyes grew wide and I stepped off her.
"I was apprenticed today. I was the twoleg who came to the clan yesterday!!" She explained desperately.
"I was wondering when I'd get to meet you." I laughed, " I didn't think it'd be attacking you though."
She still looked cautious.
"I'm LaurelPaw..." She introduced herself licking her pelt.
"I'm RunningPaw." I replied as she began to dry off.
"Thanks back there for saving me." She added gratefully, "I'd be crowfood otherwise. But it was you who pushed me in." LaurelPaw summed up.
"Yes I guess I'm sorry..." I looked down but my head shot back up and my sandy eyes gleamed. "Friends?"
"Friends." She confirmed coolly.
