After school ended, I felt really glad that I even met Omar, he's so cool. He reflects my personality so well, too! I feel like we've known each other forever.
Walking home, Omar asks an understandable question. "So, why'd you move here? Out of all places." His question is simple, but I can't put my finger on it. So I just give him a pretty simple answer. "My parents got a new job," I say. "Oh. Must suck having to make new friends while not knowing anyone," he says. "Yeah, but at least I met you, right?" I say.
We then arrive at his house. "Wanna come inside?" he asks. "Well, I still have to unpack my stuff," I say. "C'mon, it's only one time, right?" he says. Hesitantly, I nod.
His house wasn't too big. 2 stories high, a bedroom, kitchen, and living room at the bottom, and 2 bedrooms as well as a bathroom and a closet for each, a laundry room, and a room that was off-limits upstairs. I just assumed that it was some kind of storage room that had some old stuff. We went to his room, which was the bedroom downstairs.
Inside, he had LED lights at the top of his room, a bed against the wall and a TV in front of it. The TV was on top of a dresser and next to it was a lamp. He also had a Switch and Xbox on top of his dresser.
We turned on the Switch and started playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
About 2 hours had passed before I had decided to leave. It was now 7 PM, and I had to get home soon, or else I would be late for dinner, which was not exactly something I wanted to do on the first day of school.
Upon exiting his house, he waved and said bye and I did the same to him.
I opened up Google Maps on my phone, typed in my address, and started walking home. It was a 20 minute walk back and I also added a break stop at McDonald's to get a snack on the way. The time totaled up to 30 minutes.
As I speedwalked, I came across a pond with flocks of ducks in them. Behind the pond was a beautiful sunset. I took a picture of it and slowly walked past before starting to speedwalk again.
After about 15 minutes, I reached the McDonalds. I went inside and simply asked for a Medium Strawberry Milkshake. I love those. They aren't too big or too small, and they taste amazing. It took 7 minutes for the food to get ready and be ordered to me. I left the restaraunt.
By now I had about 8 minutes to get home, which was more than enough time. Sipping the milkshake, I strolled throughout the neighborhood. There were houses with beautiful yards and nice decorations. Others had tints of blue or yellow on them. It made up for the summery-ish vibes that people were getting now that it was March and we only had 2 months till the end of the school year. Some houses had big trees, and some had little. Some had 2 stories and some had 1.
I now had 2 minutes left. I came back around the loop to my house. All I now had to do was throw out my milkshake, which I had finished about 3 minutes ago, and cross the street. I quickly sprinted across the sidewalk and threw the milkshake into the trash can.
Looking both ways, I started to cross the street. Suddenly, some guy who was definitely going over the speed limit came racing down the street. But by the time I saw it, it was too late.
Collision.
I'm flung across the street and into the neighbor's yard. Throughout the few seconds left that I could see through, I could see the sun just setting behind the hills from the adjacent community and the guy in the car racing down the street, not slowing down.
And then, Darkness.
