Just as Calian was about to go to bed at last, there was another knock at his door. He resisted the urge to yell at the person to go away, and answered it. He was happy to see a much more welcome face than the last visitor."Calian. Hi again." Princess Evita said when he opened the door. He smiled a little and she smiled sweetly back.
"Hello Prince- I mean, Evita. Sorry."
"You're fine." She laughed softly. He swung the door open wider and gestured for her to come in.
"What are you doing here?" He asked as she entered.
"Well um- It's a bit embarrassing honestly.. I've been wandering around but seem to keep getting lost. Our rooms are near each other—thankfully—so I thought I would ask for some help."
"Well, I'm sure you're much better at navigating castles than me, but I'll be happy to try and help. What are you looking for."
"The toilet." She said, embarrassment in her tone. He didn't want to further humiliate her so he refrained from chuckling.
"Alright. Well, let's see if we can find it." She grinned at this and thanked him. They left his room and began to wander the castle, checking every room they could find.
After about 10 minutes, they had found the door to the gardens, a library, a storage room, the servants' quarters, but no toilet. Calian was beginning to wander if there even was one.
They were now in the huge foyer in front of the stairs, deciding where to search next.
"Are you sure there wasn't a toilet in your room?" He asked. Evita's face Immediately went from shocked realization to guilt.
"My gods- I never checked my room! Ugh, what a fool!" She said, bringing her palms to her temples.
He just laughed a little, not bothered. "It's alright. Let's go back and look. If there isn't one we'll just keep searching."
"Yes, alright.." she mumbled.
They went back to her room and began to look, and yes, there was in fact a bathroom. Evita quickly used it and came back out to Calian. "I'm so sorry, I'm a mess sometimes. Our castle isn't this big, so we only have about six bathrooms around the castle and not in the bedrooms." She explained.
"As I said, It's alright. Don't worry. Though I'd say six is quite a lot, I've only ever had one, and sometimes not even that!"
"Not even that??" She laughed.
"Can you imagine having to use the side of the road for a bathroom?" He joked, which made her laugh more.
"I truly cannot." She said. "Well, thank you so much for joining me on this wild goose chase. If it wasn't for you, I'd be in trouble."
"Yes, I suppose you would. Well, it was my pleasure. Not every day do you get the chance to help a Princess search for the loo." He chuckled.
"Now, I assume that you swear to not breath a word about this to anyone?" She asked, holding up a finger in front of his face as a warning.
"Oh- was this supposed to be a secret? I was going to tell all my mates about it when I got home. It is a pretty good story, is it not?" He teased, earning a swat on the arm from Evita. They both smiled and he bowed. "Goodnight, your highness." He said as he bowed, purposely throwing in the 'your highness'. She held back a laugh and bowed as well.
"And you as well, your lowness." She giggled. He held his mouth open in shock as he walked backwards to the door.
"Wow, how unsophisticated. Aren't you supposed to be a Princess??" He joked, pretending to be offended. Evita just smirked and tried to hold in more laughter. He smiled, shaking his head, and then shut her door. The smile didn't leave his face until he finally laid down to sleep.
