Sam woke up slowly, dazed, unsure for a second where she was. Glancing around her she soon recognised the room. It was the cabin. She felt a little fuzzy on the details of how she got there, bit she wasn't complaining. She heard voices outside from the front lawn. Happy voices. Laughter.
It filled Sam with a warm feeling, as if she had either awoken from a dream, or she had just woken inside of it. Everything felt somehow surreal, but exactly as it should be at the same time.
Sam crawled out of bed, curious now about the activities outside. With an uncomfortable feeling digging into her one side, she grabbed the nearest slacks and hoodie. She moved from the bedroom into the kitchen and common room. She found the remnants of breakfast on the counters in the kitchen and knew Mon was as responsible for the mess as the twins were.
The twins. Sam stopped dead in her tracks and listened to the excited voices from outside again. She could hear Mon, clear as day. And then the little ones. Their little ones. Sam again felt like she was dreaming but everything seemed normal at the same time. She and Mon were married. Mon carried Sam's biological set of twins - a boy and a girl, their hair both jet black and eyes deep brown and almond shaped, just like their mother. They had their other mother's cheekiness, however, Sam would always say whenever they would try to smartmouth or sass their moms.
Sam grinned and moved over to the front door. Her heart tightened as she stepped out, the sight of her family causing her stomach to flutter. Sam moved over to stop just behind Mon, her arms snaking around her middle as she pressed a kiss to her wife's neck. "Hey beautiful. Having fun with the kids?" She heard Mon giggle as she started turning herself to face Sam.
"Yes, I've been teaching them well." Mon replied as she eyed Sam, causing Sam to freeze in all motion. Her jaw started moving but no sound emerged. She pulled back from the pair of amber feline eyes where Mon's beautiful mocha eyes were supposed to be. She looked over to her left and saw the twins; suddenly they were grown, girls, one blonde and the other brunette. It was Freen and Charlotte.
Sam could feel her heart slipping up her throat and she managed to croak out one or two "no!" as she stumbled back from the three cat-eyed women. She fell backwards onto the grass and gravel in her confused efforts. As the women were gaining though, Sam moved quickly to jump up and turn around to run.
Except she ran right into the barrel of a gun. Her stomach dropped, hard, not even because of the gun, but because it was her brother on the other end. He had a hard glare chiselled into his stoney eyes as he drove that look right into Sam's soul. "Think it's my turn? ... Wait, don't even answer that. I wonder who will save your slut when you're gone.
"Saint, please, hear me out." Sam pleaded with her brother. "The story is not what you think! Freen killed Nita!"
"And YOU killed ME, Sam!" Saint bumped the tip of the barrel against her forehead to accentuate every syllable. "You CHOSE to save that little brat instead of letting me live! Your own blood, Sam!" He spat at Freen with disgust lacing every word.
"And I would do it all again in a heartbeat because it...it lead me to her..." Sam was afraid to turn to look at Mon, not wanting to see the feline eyes, but she knew Mon was in there somewhere. She could feel her. Mon had become a part of not just her heart, but of her very soul.
"I've experienced something that I never would have thought was possible. I met the love of my life and she has turned everything upside down for me. I don't want to spend a second away from her for as long as possible. Not only have I claimed her as mine, but she claims me as well - heart, soul, mind and body." Sam ground out with conviction, even as her voice quivered and softened at certain points as she pictured Mon in her mind.
