"Hello Princess."

Emilina turned her head to see a dark haired man standing in front of her, giving her quite a fright. Her book fell out of her hands as her body shook with surprise.

"Oh, you startled me," she said, bringing her hand to her chest.

"My apologies, your highness."

"No, no, it's quite alright. You look very familiar, do I know you from somewhere?"

"My name is Kol Mikaelson. Klaus is my elder brother."

"Of course, I remember now. I saw you with Nik when he was crowned with the title of Lord."

Kol smiled when she heard the nickname roll off her tongue. It seemed Klaus wasted no time getting close to her.

"Yes, one of Niklaus's finer accomplishments," Kol said, his tone teasing and hinting at sarcasm.

"Is there something I can do for you, Kol?" Emilina asked as she stood from her chair to face the tall vampire.

"You already have, Darling," he teased, watching her blush profusely. "I just wanted to meet the woman my brother speaks so highly about."

Emilina paced around the halls of their mansion, twisting her fingers into unnatural positions. It had been almost two days since Klaus left to do the ritual and she was worried out of her mind for him.

In addition, her separation anxiety was spiraling out of control. She hadn't eaten or slept much and her phone was glued to her hand, waiting for him to call. She never remembered them being apart for more than a day.

As the hours ticked by, Emilina was nearly in hysterics. She couldn't hold the tears back as she called Klaus's phone again, unable to call any of his witches because his number was the only one in her phone.

He didn't trust anyone else enough to have direct contact with her.

The phone went to voicemail for the hundredth time. Emilina set her phone down on the kitchen counter and continued to mindlessly walk around the huge house. She'd been in every room at least seven times.

Suddenly, she heard the door fly open, causing her breath to hitch in her throat. Her heart leapt in her chest when she heard it slam shut.

"Emilina?" Klaus called out, his tone expectant.

Emilina unfroze from her spot and raced down the stairs into the waiting arms of her now hybrid husband. She let out the sob she was holding back as she clutched at his shirt and tried to press herself further into his body. The comforting scent of his cologne flooded her senses and slightly placated her emotional state.

"I'm sorry that I was gone so long my love," Klaus said apologetically, lifting her off the ground and carrying her into the living room.

He sat down on the couch with her still curled around him. She straddled his lap, legs bent behind her on both sides of his thighs. Her arms moved from his neck down to his torso so she could rest her head on his shoulder.

"Please don't leave me like that again," she whimpered, tears still streaming down her face.

Her heavy emotions and all the stress she'd felt since he'd left came crashing down on her, leaving her a crying mess. It felt like a weight had been lifted off her chest with his return, but the residual feeling of worry and abandonment still lingered.

"I tried to call but you didn't pick up. I didn't know if it the spell worked and your curse was broken or if the doppelganger's friends got to you and hurt you and I was just so, so worried about you Nik and I, I..."
