Chapter 1: The First Glimpse

YN was playing in her front yard, the sun casting long shadows as it began to set. She hopped along the chalk-drawn hopscotch squares, lost in her own little world. Her mother called from the porch.

“YN, don’t stray too far, okay? Lunch will be ready soon.”

“Okay, Mom!” YN replied, still focused on her game.

As YN played, her gaze drifted across the street to a boy her age, carrying a large box with some difficulty. He was walking with his mother, who was guiding him towards a new house. YN couldn’t help but watch, intrigued by the boy’s presence.

“Who is that?” YN whispered to herself.

The boy’s mother noticed his struggle and helped him with the box. “This is our new house. What do you think?”

The boy, with his dark, curious eyes, looked up at the house. “It’s nice. I think I’ll like it here,” he said, his voice carrying a hint of excitement.

YN’s heart fluttered at the sound of his voice and the way he spoke. She continued watching as they entered the house, a sense of fascination settling over her.

The next day at school, YN sat alone on the swings during recess, her thoughts consumed by the boy. She glanced over at the soccer field where he was playing with a group of kids. He was energetic and confident, and his laughter carried across the field.

“There he is again…” YN murmured, her eyes fixed on him.

A friend noticed YN’s distraction. “YN, why are you just sitting there? Come play with us!”

“In a minute…” YN replied absently.

The friend followed YN’s gaze and spotted the boy. “Oh, that’s the new kid. I think he’s in Mr. Kim’s class.”

“Namjoon…” YN repeated, savoring the name as if it were a precious secret.

The following days saw YN subtly changing her routine. She would linger near the boy’s classroom, her heart racing whenever she caught a glimpse of him. At lunch, she always chose a seat that gave her a clear view of his table.

During one lunch period, her friend noticed YN’s behaviour. “YN, you’re always sitting here now. Why don’t you come join us?”

YN looked up, a slight blush on her cheeks. “Oh, I just like this spot. It’s… a good view.”

Her friend gave her a curious look but shrugged it off. “Alright, if you say so.”

At home that evening, YN lay in bed, replaying the day’s events in her mind. She remembered the way the boy’s eyes sparkled when he smiled, the way he laughed with his friends, and how he moved with such ease on the soccer field. Each detail was etched into her memory, deepening her fascination.

She whispered to herself, “Why do you make me feel like this?”

YN’s obsession grew stronger with each passing day. She maintained a careful distance, ensuring her presence went unnoticed. To everyone else, she was just another student, but to YN, the boy had become the center of her universe.

In the quiet of her room, she continued to watch from afar, her heart wrapped around the enigma of the boy. He remained oblivious to her attention, while YN’s feelings deepened, marking the beginning of an intense and unspoken connection.
