『 ↝ teenage heartbreaks ↜ 』

ANDIE WAS RUNNING THROUGH THE FRESHLY GROWN DAISY GARDEN, bursting through the front door. She had witnessed something she never thought she would.

"She did it." was all that she could say, with a shallow and uneven breath after running back home from the town centre.

Lance who was reading a comic book on the couch, reluctantly looked up with a confused expression. "Who did what?" She asked.

"Ellie. Ellie actually did it." Andie stepped closer smiling wilder with every passing second until you could almost see the corners of her mouth touching her ears. All her teeth out on display, that's how much joy she was in.

"Ellie did what?" Lance asked still confused about what Ellie could have possibly done to make her best friend so euphoric.

"She got a tattoo! It's only an outline but it's a big one! Right there on her hand!" Andie sat down on the loveseat facing Lance, as she was enthusiastically lifting her sleeve and showing her a place on the arm.

"She did? Holy shit! Just like your fanstasies you were telling me about" Lance laughed while saying this out loud. She put away her book on the coffee table and scooted closer to the edge of the couch.

Back a few months ago, when Maria informed everyone that there would be an asteroid rain over Jackson, everyone in the small town was excited. Especially Andie. Besides hanging out with Lance and dreaming about Ellie, she loved to read mostly astronomic books. After hearing all that Mr. Whitlock, the bartender, had to say about universities and majors before outbreak, she was sure she would have gone for astrophysics.

She loved reading theories about black holes and the hypothesises about white holes existing, gravity, magnetic pole and other everything else that could be found outside of this tragic world that was Earth post-outbreak.

So that night of the asteroid rain she was as laying in the daisy garden with her best friend and just gazing into the sky. That was until a deep conversation began between the two girls.

Andie told her all about how she wonders if Ellie too, is maybe looking at the sky thinking about a crush, or maybe a lover. That's when Lance asked if Andie would change anything in Ellie, and the answer was yes. She'd give her a cool tattoo somewhere on the arms or back maybe.

And that's exactly what happened. So both joyous girls were giggling at the almost miracle that happened. Andie was over the moon. Not for long though.

A few days later, she was once again running through the daisy garden, bursting through the door, but this time not in joy, but in tears of a heartbreak. Andie found out that Ellie had in fact been staring at the asteroids that day too, thinking about a lover, but it wasn't her, no. It was Cat. The tattoo artist that made Andie's fantasies happen.

"What happened?" Asked Lance the moment she saw her best friend in a mild state. She immediately put her book aside, taking off her reading glasses. She stood up and spread her arms wide open, inviting Andie to come and give her a much-needed bear hug.
