Cleo De Nile did not like many people. She had her group of ghouls, she had her boys, and she had the entire school of Monster High wrapped around her little finger.
Which is why they were suspicious of Jackson and their twin Holt. Who were these kids, showing up and simply slotting themselves into her friend group? The mummy sighed for the eighth time in the last ten minutes, readjusting themself in Ghoulia's lap (The zombie had pulled out her laptop and was using Cleo as a desk for it. Not that the royal minded, Ghoulia could do whatever she wanted to Cleo~)
"Why are you sighing?" Ghoulia finally asked, mild annoyance tinging at her tone.
Cleo rolled so she was facing the ghoul and pouted, "I don't trust them," she decided, "I mean, who do they think they are? Showing up and just slotting themself into my friend group, it's... Outrageous!"
Ghoulia stared for a moment, "Cleo, I don't think they knew what they were getting into either," she reminded, "It's their first day of school and Frankie approached them, it's not their fault she's so hell-bent on making friends," Ghoulia cracked a small smile, and Cleo just sighed once more.
"I know," she rolled over once again, lazily picking at the grass, "I don't like it," she pouted.
Ghoulia reached over and lightly ran her hands through the Mummy's hair, "I won't leave you," she reassured, "And neither will the rest of the ghouls. They're all understanding, if you start to feel neglected you just have to tell them," Cleo made a whining noise, and Ghoulia huffed out a laugh.
Cleo propped her head up to stare at the (alleged) monster sitting a ways away from them leaning on a tree. After Clawdeen had walked over and then came back a few minutes later, they'd mostly just been staring at the same page in their book for a while.
Occasionally Cleo saw their lips moving, but then they'd look up and lock eyes with her and she'd act like she wasn't watching them. It was weird, and Cleo was determined to figure out what they were hiding. What if it was dangerous?
Beyond Cleo's apparent dislike towards the new student, they acknowledged that nobody had come out of the school. There weren't any students hopping out windows, and no teachers came out the front doors. And yet, she could still see the lights flashing through the windows.
..Maybe it was more than just a student losing control.
Were they in danger sitting out here?
"Ghoulia, how long has it been?" the royal inquired, turning back towards their zombie friend.
"About an hour," she replied, glancing towards the clock on her computer, "..That probably isn't good, is it?"
"No, probably not," Cleo sighed, "Pick up your computer so I can get up, dear," she requested, and Ghoulia complied, allowing Cleo to push herself up to sit back on the grass and look around.
Nothing seemed to be amiss. No smoke pouring out of the building into the sky, no screaming, no running out of the building in panic. It was truly... Quiet.
Calm?
....Unnerving.
"Do you think we should go investigate?" she inquired, leaning slightly towards Ghoulia, "Students should be in their last class right now and, really, I'd rather not get yelled at for missing two classes if nothing is wrong,"
Ghoulia hummed, "Maybe, only if you wake them up first, though," she grinned slowly, gesturing faintly towards the small puddle of various ghouls sleeping beside them. Cleo sighed dramatically.
"Yeah, yeah, alright," and then stood, wiping the grass and dirt off her bandages and carefully stepping over the zombie to nudge Draculaura with her foot, "Come on, ghouls, we're going back inside," she commanded, causing all three pairs of eyes to flutter open. One of which was glaring.
