"...In a City where the morning sun is enough to bring life to everything within it, where everywhere you go flowers are blooming, where people can easily find joy and laugh, where it's effortless to feel like home... I still end up feeling so... alone."
A boy with dark yellow eyes, black to lime green hair, and a birthmark in the shape of ink-like blotches on his face was flat on his bed staring toward the ceiling with an expressionless face and stayed there for a while until the alarm on the bed stand went off, which he'd slowly respond with a deep sigh.
Eventually, after a half minute of the alarm blaring the boy suddenly snapped and jolted over to headbutt the device.
After getting out of his bed he smelt the gray sweatshirt and sweatpants he slept in and decided to shrug off the smell, then walked out of the bedroom to head down a short corridor toward the door to another room and knocked on it.
"Hey, Daki. It's time to get ready... you up?" The boy asked with a drained tone as he continued to knock. "...Oi. Daki. You in there?" He stopped for a few seconds to listen for an answer which ended up just being a muffled whiney wimper coming from inside the room. "Huuuuuuhhhh??? Da- Hey look, I'm comin' in. You better be awake!" The boy grumbled while reaching over to grab the handle and open the door. "...Daki. Why are you on the floor...?" He questioned the girl on her knees, shaking, biting her thumb's nail, and completely wrapped in bed covers. The boy's face switched from a grumpy expression to a shocked one in an instant, he swiftly walked over to the girl and kneeled down to her level. "Wh-What's wrong?!" He worried.
Daki: "Gyu-...Gyu-..Gyutaroooooooooo....!" She stuttered while shakingly turning to the boy beside her. "I-... I'm scared..." She struggled to add.
Gyutaro: "Of what...?"
Daki: "Schooooooollllll!!!! I'm scared to go to a new one so soon!" She cried, with literal snot and tears coming from nowhere. "I-I'll have to introduce myself again... and- and- and... what if everyone there is like- a bunch of neeeeeeerrrrrddsssss!!! I hate it! I hate it! I hate it!!! Can we p-p-p-p-pweaaseeee stay home today big broth-" She was cut off by a karate chop landing straight on her head by her older brother, Gyutaro. "DON'T EVEN TRY GIVING THOSE PUPPY DOG EYES!!! GET YOUR ASS IN THE SHOWER RIGHT NOW!!!!" he snapped. "DON'T YELL AT ME! YOU RAT!" Daki instantly snapped back as if she wasn't balling her eyes out an actual second ago.
"Every day's always been the same, the boring kind. I wake up before my little sister, she fusses. I make breakfast, she spends the whole time on her phone looking at her follower count then forgets to eat..." Gyutaro thought to himself as he walked down the stairs and made his way to the kitchen, then looked in the fridge for whatever food he could start his and his sisters' day off with. Daki came down the stairs only after Gyutaro had finished cooking to sit down at the dinner table and do exactly what he expected her to do and get absorbed by her phone when the breakfast she wanted was right in front of her.
After eating his lunch, Gyutaro found himself in the shower washing himself off cautiously so as to not use up too much water, and once he was finished as well as drying himself off, he dressed up in a white long sleeve shirt with the sleeves rolled up just above his elbows. He gave it some thought but decided to leave the shirt untucked.
"Maybe they aren't as strict with the rules. Only one way to find out I guess." He thought while finishing off the uniform with a green tie with white patterned stripes all around it as well as white socks and casual brown shoes.
With his side of the morning routine complete, he made his way to the front door, swiping up the house keys from the kitchen counter before stopping to wait outside for his younger sister. And while he waited, he looked out at the buildings in the city as well as the neighborhood they lived in and thought to himself again...
