*WOOF!*

"Yeah yeah, just a minute, Val"

The sounds of a knife hitting the chopping board as I cut the meat can be heard in the kitchen. Aside from the bubbling curry on the stove, my Newfoundland service dog, Valentine, is sitting patiently at the corner of the kitchen counter. I got him even before I got thrown into this dimension. He's the only thing I have that's proof that I didn't hallucinate everything. He's just an ordinary service dog who's.... a bit more intelligent for its species.

*Woof!*

I scraped the board with my knife, putting the sliced meat on the curry. I grab a few leftovers (making sure it's boneless) and throw them in the air. Valentine effortlessly catches it in its jaws. He let out a small bark as thanks, at least that's what I think anyway. With a wooden spoon in my hand, I stirred the pot to make sure the bottom didn't burn.

With nothing else to do, Valentine sauntered to the door and used its muzzle to turn the door knob. In comes a confused but pleasantly surprised Billy with a handful of fruits. By the looks of it, he needs to use at least one of his hands to turn the knob. I guess that Valentine sensed that someone was at the door so it went up and opened itself.

'...Yeah, just an ordinary dog.'

"Hey, Valentine! Good boy! Good boy~!!" Billy said with a smile. He eagerly went inside our apartment and set the basket of fruits aside on the table. Now that he doesn't have his hands full, he bends down with one knee and uses those to utterly ruffle Valentine's fur. The large dog pants happily at the physical attention. Its tail wagging with glee.

*pant pant*

I cover the pot with a lid and let the curry simmer. I tilt my head to the side to see the commotion. "I swear, Valentine likes you more than me." I joked. Hearing that statement made my dog stop smiling, looking at me weirdly. He slowly walked up to me, completely ignoring Billy, and sat by my shoes. Valentine looks up at me with its sad brown eyes. Almost like he heard me talk about him.

'...just a normal dog, right???'

"Aww, I'm sorry..." I cooed at him, bending also to rub the spot behind his ears. Valentine continues to pant happily. I look back at the dog to see a sulking Billy in the corner of my room. If I focus on my ears, I can hear him faking a sob.

"Abandoned.... just like that...."

I stuck out my tongue at him.

"Anyways, we're bringing the fruit basket at William and Sherlock's place, yeah?" I ask for confirmation once again. The man nodded after sulking for a few seconds, smiling like he didn't just act betrayed a minute ago. He stretched out his arms and put them against the back of his head. He nodded before sniffing the air.

"Woah~ Is that you're infamous curry?" He questioned. He proceeded to the kitchen to search for the source of the deliciousness. While he went and presumably got a taste, I went to the basket on the table with my dog following behind. Apples, bananas, grapes... wait.

"Why are you going there again?" I asked with a puzzled expression. For a moment, I didn't hear any response from him. I entered the kitchen once again to find him slurping the soup from the curry. I don't know if I should feel flattered or slightly disappointed at the act.
