Zahra's pov.
I went downstairs. Just as expected, I found Khadijah and her mom. I greeted the elderly woman before hugging Khadijah.
Her mom in turn gave me a basket full of desserts. "My daughter, this is for you". I collected the basket and uttered a Thank You. Just then I noticed a girl playing with the decorative pebbles on the center table.
My Ammi noticed that I was looking at her with both curiosity and confusion.
"Sumayya, you did not tell zahra she has a new sister ba" she said referring to Maama.
"Oh, this girl is Khadijah's younger sister. She was given birth to five months after you left."
"Ooh,..." I walked over to the little girl. She had those familiar eyes. I like her before even talking to her. She looks too cute and sweet in her beautiful pink dress. "Hey pretty, what's your name, I want us to be friends."
"My name is lily" she said with a cute smile and baby accent.
"Nice to meet you" I grinned.
"Her actual name is Aliyah. Lily is the pet name her brother calls her. And it seems she likes it a lot cuz when asked, she says she's lily, and I think you girls should go and have a chat, we also want to discuss". Khadijah's mother said. I held Lily as she calls herself, and pulled her but she jerked back and didn't want to come along. Maybe she doesn't get comfortable with strangers easily I thought.

We went to my room, sat down and had nothing to talk about. I, Aisha(Aush) and Khadijah(Deejah) used to be a trio But now, we were just looking at each other with nothing to say to each other. Our connection now lost.

Khadijah Ibrahim has been a childhood friend to me. We first met in the same primary school. I was bought to the school in primary 3 while she's been there since nursery. We became friends, and later found out that our Fathers are friends too, due to them being both politicians. Actually, my dad just got into politics as at then. That's the reason I'm now in stellar academy. The school is known for being a very expensive one. Only children of the elite and politicians could afford it. Just three weeks after I got enrolled in stellar, Aisha Rabiu also got in. I and Khadijah have already bonded, Aisha being new there also joined and before you know it, we were inseparable. Alh Rabiu and his family lived before in kaduna. But he built a company in Abuja. His wife insisted that he build a house for them in Abuja so he won't have to travel very often. That's how they relocated from kaduna to Abuja. I also later found out that Aush's family were our neighbors, when she got sick and our school organized a visit from the whole class.

Khadijah tapped my lap pulling me out of my haze.
"Emmm, life. I was just thinking how our chemistry has changed over just 6 years when we spent about 14 years building it" I explained.
"Yeah, it's true." She said. Yet again, she had nothing to say again.
"So tell me, what changes do we have here in Nigeria, of course the ones you noticed within the two years you're back from Cambridge". I asked.

"Well, while I was in UK, I came home during the holiday and found a baby. I was shocked at first but then remembered that Ummi was pregnant when I left. They said that they didn't tell me cuz they wanted it to be surprised. Soo.. having a sister was one thing new to me.
Also, I got used to the food there, and everyone kept bugging me about my new accent. Ummi even sometimes says that I'm forming. She complains all the time. But now, I've adjusted and I'm back normal cept that my English is now fluent and I can do nothing about that." She explained.
"Well, they haven't complained any bit, but I just got back yesterday so I'll wait for about a week and see if they will complain".
Just then, someone called Khadijah, I guess maybe her boyfriend. My mind drifted to mine, I thought of calling him while she had her long conversation but I didn't call, it isn't up to an hour since he called.
She didn't finish the call till Lily was sent to call her downstairs. I accompanied her and they left.

"Papa, you're back" I cheered as I saw my dad while coming down the stairs. His back faced me but after I spoke, he turned around and gave me a smile. I reached the couch he was sitting on and he stood up and dragged me into a hug.
"Welcome back my dear Zahra. It's been two years since we've met in person"
"Yawwa papa, dama I wanted to ask the reason why you didn't attend my graduation ceremony"
"Well, the honorable governor scheduled a meeting with the minister of finance, which happens to be me, so I had no choice". He said with a sad expression.
"Okay, but you have to make it up to me"
"I promise to, maybe during your wedding, I will give you ample amount of money for your dream wedding and advice too". He smiled.
Wedding! I couldn't help but yell out.
