1.1 Behold, I, Merom, now write of my ancestry:
2. My father, Kadmiel, the last Jadonite, cried out to the Lord because of his solitude, alone in this land.
3. The Lord heard him, and came down from heaven to this earth.
4. He (Kadmiel) asked the Lord to take him out of this land, but the Lord said:
5. I will not take you out of this land, but I will give you power to build here a new nation!
6. And Kadmiel's face shone with happiness, and he asked the Lord:
How are you going to do that, my God?
7. And the Lord answered: come close to me, my son.
8. And Kadmiel approached the Lord, and He caused him to fall into a deep sleep.
9. Then the Lord made to Kadmiel, in the likeness of what he did to Adam, our father, the Second Eve, (because the first was our mother), taking away a rib on his right side.
10. Then the Lord took him and Elizah, the Second Eve, to heaven, and Jesus, the Son of God, united them in one flesh and made them immortal.2.1 The luminaries of Heaven surrounded Kadmiel and Elizah in the Holy Place, and the Lord had departed to the highest places.
2. And the voice of the Lord came to Kadmiel, saying: It was by your fidelity, man of Jadon, that you were granted the right to go up to the Holy Place.
3. It was because of your fidelity to Me and to the longing of your heart, man of Jadon, that Elizah your wife was given to you.
4. It was for your fidelity, knowing the rest at the end of your steps, Kadmiel, last of the Jadonites, that to you and your wife We gave eternal life.
5. The voice of the Lord was silenced. And Elizah asked: what is fidelity, husband?
6. What is your heart's longing? And what is the rest at the end of your steps?
7. And Kadmiel said to his wife: pestilence and wars had spread in the land of Elishah, the land from which the Lord brought us up to the Heavens.
8. Therefore, of all the house of my ancestors, only I was left,
9. and in all the island there was not a single woman of my people that I could marry.
10. For years I searched among the women of that land for one who was righteous in the eyes of the Lord, but I never found her.
11. I always wanted one whose steps walked beside mine, seeking the ways of the Lord, but among the foreigners of Elishah, I never found her.
12. But I never put the desires of the world above my longing for the one who would walk beside me.
13. This, my wife, was my heart's longing.
14. I never thought of marrying the women of that land while the longing for her who would walk beside me was kindled in my heart.
15. And this, my wife, is fidelity.
16. And so, alone in the land of Elishah, I cried out to the Lord, asking that my loneliness might end.
17. And the Lord came to me, and brought me you.
18. And he united us, in one flesh.
19. And this, my wife, is the rest at the end of my steps.
20. I entered the rest of the Lord, because I know that you are the one who will walk beside my steps,
21. and the one who will end the silence and loneliness of my mind,
22. because you are bone of my bones, you are my people that I had lost and found again.
23. You are my sister, my friend, and my wife.
24. I believe this, for it was God himself who brought you to me, and I know that His designs are perfect,
25. therefore I trust that you are my rest, and my longing fulfilled.
26. And to believe this, my wife, is also fidelity.
27. Kadmiel fell silent, and Elizah hugged herself to his side.
