Carl's POV~
I sat on my bunk thinking about Callie. For the past few months it has been nothing but awkward between us. I still haven't asked her to be my girlfriend yet. I stood up and walked down the hall to Beth's cell and sat in her desk chair. "Hey Carl, what's up?" "I want to ask Callie to be my girlfriend. Today."
"Really Carl? That's great!" I sighed "Not for long." "What do you mean?" "I don't know if I could put her through the stress of making that decision." "Well from my knowledge, Callie really likes you too." I looked down blushing like an 8 year old. "Really?" "Yup. So go for it tiger!" She stood up as well and pushed me out of her cell. "I think she's up in the left front guard tower." "Thanks, Beth." "No problem, Carl." She smiled.
I ran out of our cell block to the front left tower. Taking one last thought about what I was going to do, and an occasional sigh, I took my journey up the ladder. "Hey, Callie." I said with a little hesitation in my voice. "Hey, Carl." Callie happily said. "I need to talk to you about something really important to me, and-" I was cut off by hearing a gun shot and a loud scream.
I looked out the window of the guard tower and saw the governor and his men lined up against the front fence. Dad and the crew ran out of the cell block and started to carefully walk toward the front gate. "What's going on?!" Callie frantically whispered "shh"
I whispered. "Daryl popped his head up so we could see him, and he quickly climbed into the tower with us."I need you two to get ready. War is about to start. Get into your positions. We practiced this before." "Wait, what? Who's the governor and what does he want from us?" "Stop with the questions Callie." Daryl and I yelled/whispered.
Callie's POV~
"Wait, what? Who's the governor and what does he want from us?" I whispered. "Stop with the questions, Callie!" Daryl and Carl both yelled/whispered. When I get scared I tend to ask a lot of questions, so obviously I was terrified. "Give us the prison!" The so called "governor" yelled. "We can work this out. You can live in cell block E and we would never have to see each other."
"You either give us the whole prison, or we blast a hole in through your walls." The man with the eye patch said. "Please, we have sick people and children. They wouldn't survive out there!" "You have 1 hour to move out of here. If I were you, I would get moving. It's harder to move at night while the biters are more active." "We aren't leaving." Rick calmly stated." "Suit yourself." The governor said.
He gave a nod to the man in the tank and he started to roll over our fences letting the walkers into our safe haven.
"No!!" Rick screamed and started shooting. Daryl gave a shot at one of the men down below and blew our cover. Next thing I knew the world went black.Carl's POV~
"No!!" Dad screamed and let off a few rounds of ammunition. Daryl let off a shot and gave away our cover. I heard a loud thud coming from Callie's side of the tower and I looked over. "Oh my god, Daryl!!" Callie had been shot right in the middle of her chest, barely missing her heart. I leaned down to check her pulse and it was hardly thudding.
Daryl quickly grabbed Callie and flung her over his shoulder. "Let's go!"
We climbed down the guard tower and ran as fast as we could to D block, our medical block where Hershel stays 24/7. Daryl carefully set Callie down on the metal table and stated her injuries to Hershel. "I need pliers, stitches, bandages, and a rag with alcohol. I ran over to his shelf and grabbed everything he needed. Daryl had already ran outside to help fight."Carl, I need you to get out of my way so I can help Callie, okay?" He hastily ripped her white tank top and flannel which revealed her in just a bra and jeans. Even though Callie was in real trouble, I am a boy, so I couldn't help but stare. Hershel stuck an IV in her arm and started getting back to work.
