Sam was still at the hospital on the first day when he could hear someone walk into the room.

Assuming it was Colby he didn't bother to look over.

"No change, they say it'll be a few days till she wakes up fully" he said.

"Oh" he heard a woman say.

He looked up and immediately recognized the two people as Kennedy's parents.

"Oh my god, I'm sorry I assumed you were Colby" he said standing up and wiping away a few tears before wiping his hands on his pants.

"It's alright, you must be Sam?" Kennedy's father said.

"Yeah, that's me" he smiled and shook his hand.

Kennedy's mother reached over and hugged the boy "thank you for staying with her"

"There's nowhere I'd rather be" he said looking back down at Kennedy "I'll let you two, have some time" he sadly smiled.

"Thank you Sam" her mother said.

He walked out of the hospital and sat in his car.

Within seconds he was in tears.

Tears from worry. Tears from sadness. Tears from everything.

He cried because he had finally met Kennedy's parents. And this was the reason.

A few moments later his phone rung.

*incoming call from Colbert🥸*

C: Hey brother

S: hey

C: how's she doing?

S: the same, no change. Her parents are here though, so I'm heading home.

C: oh what're they like?

S: they seem nice. I didn't stick around long. I'm gonna stop in on Lillian on my way home, she didn't seem right when I talked to her last.

C: alright I'll see you in a bit

S: later.

Sam drove to the girls house, once he arrived he knocked on the door.

Lillian came to the door, her eyes were red and puffy, her shirt wet from tears, her nose sniffling.

"Hey"

"Hey" she said back "how is she?"

"She's the same, she's still not awake. Her parents showed up, so I left them to be with her. I wanted to come check on you" Sam said as they walked further into the apartment.

"Her parents are there?" Lillian asked.

"Yeah. They seem nice" he said.

"Yeah, as nice as parents can be when you only see them three times a year and they just hand you money and leave" Lillian sighed, walking into the kitchen.

"Wait really?" Sam said shocked. Kennedy and Sam never talked about family all that much.

"Ya, it was really her and a string of nanny's growing up. When I met her she had moved into the same town as me and her nanny brought her to the mall. We both wanted the same shirt, we agreed that whoever it looked better in it could keep it. Needless to say she won" Lillian and Sam laughed.

He looked over at her and watched as she wiped a tear.

"I don't know what I'm gonna do if she's not okay Sam. This is all my fault. Everything is my fault" she begins to break down.
