Hiccup's POV

I stared at her face, examining her now calm expression. Something inside me told me that it was all my fault. Something I did to make her feel bad. I could never forgive myself if anything happened to her. All these thoughts surrounded me as my mind slowly went blank as I rested my head onto the table.

My eyes fluttered open as Mr and Mrs Hofferson barged through the door, worry taking over their faces. I got up from the table, thinking to say something. Before I knew it her parents were at the table examining their daughter's wounds. They sat next to the table, looking completely exhausted. We sat in silence for a while when Mrs. Hofferson spoke. "Thanks a lot lad, you've done so much. Why don't you get some rest, eh?" she said. "No problem, ma'am, I choose to stay. Though I feel you should go and rest, you look very exhausted. I will take care of Astrid until she wakes up." I replied. "Thank you very much, hope it isn't a problem. We have been out traveling all day, today was quite a busy day." She spoke. "Not at all, please rest" I said, as both of them left.

Just after, my father slowly entered the room. "I know what you'll dad, but-" I tried saying. "It's ok you can stay" he said, surprising me. "Really?" I asked. "Yes, I know how worried you are. Just please get some sleep or else you'll tire yourself" he replied. "Thanks Dad, it means a lot" I said. "Anything for you son, please take care" he spoke, as he exited the hut.

I pulled my chair near to the table. I blew the candle next to me. I slowly took her hand in mine, trying my best not to hurt her any further. I lay my head on the table, not able to take my mind away from the limp figure on the table. All sorts of thoughts went through my head as I slowly fell alsleep.

Astrid's POV

I slowly woke up to the sun shining bright enough to blind me. I turned to my right realizing someone was holding hand, his auburn hair covering his face as he slowly woke up at the sudden movement. "H-Hey Astrid, you're awake. How are you feeling?" he said. "Better, a little weak but fine" I replied. His eyebrows knit together as he looked at my hand. "You really scared me, how did this happen?" he said, looking at me with worry. "It doesn't matter" I said, pulling my hand away and hopping off the table.

"Wait, where are you going?" he said, holding my hand to stop me. "Home, where else?" I replied impatiently. "Your parents aren't home, today they started their 6-day trip." He spoke. "I can still go home" I quickly tried to cut him off. "No, I'm not letting you stay alone" he said. "Yes Laddie, your parents have told me to take care of you. So, you will be staying at our house" said Stoick, who both of us didn't know was there. Hiccup immediately left my hand that he had been holding subconsciously. I winced at the curling of my knuckles.

Hiccup's POV

A young healer soon entered the room to check on Astrid. The healer slowly unraveled the bandages, blood clots surrounded her knuckles with her flesh seen through them. I saw her hiss at every touch, the healer soon wrapped fresh bandages and sent us off. "Are you okay?" I asked, as we walked back home. "Not like it matters" she hissed. I winced reminding myself of how big of an idiot I am.

We were in plaza when the rest of the gang showed up. "Hey Astrid, how are you? I heard you got hurt" said Fishlegs. "Yeah, I'm fine, it was merely a graze" she said, as I noticed her hiding her hands behind her back. "You know Astrid, I thought night and day when heard this news" said Snotlout, in the most dramatic way he could trying to flirt with her, which somehow pissed me off. Before I could say something, a punch came flying through the air and the next thing I saw was Snotlout lying on the ground. Her face scrunched up in pain as she moved forward, leaving a whimpering Snotlout.

This was all supposed to be very normal but something felt off, but right now I had a bigger problem. I saw Astrid's hand bleed as she walked. I ran to catch with her, "Astrid, wait up!" I spoke. I held onto her hand, "Are you okay? Your hand is bleeding!" I said, concerned. "I fine, it's fine" she said. "No, it's not okay. We are going straight home" I said. "But- " she tried to resist. "No, excuses....Please Astrid." I said, pleadingly. Without saying anything we walked home.
