Chapter 2: the parents

(Sofia's pov)

Me and Hugo quickly got our parents. We had managed to dodge the questions from our friends for the time being.

 Once both our parents had exchanged greetings they turned to their children for answers. " what was all that about?" They asked.

 " well the kiss was kind of spur of the moment but it made us realize that we like each other and we would like permission to court" Hugo blurted out. I face palmed. Definitely not how I would have done it. "We have no problem with it" my parents said. "We don't have any either" Hugo's parents said. 

"Yay!" I exclaimed. I was so happy that I kissed Hugo softly. "Uhhhh, sofia?" Hugo said, gesturing towards our parents. I blushed furiously. I had momentarily forgotten they were there.

 "Why don't we give them some privacy?" My mom suggested. All the parents agreed and walked off talking to each other. 

Once I was sure that our parents weren't there, I sighed. Hugo wrapped His strong arms around my waist. I leaned into him, enjoying his touch. "That went better than expected" he said. "Yea" I replied. Suddenly, a cold breeze blew by. I shivered violently, the cold Invading my body.

(Hugo's pov)

A cold breeze blew by. I could barely feel it but I felt Sofia shiver violently. It was only then that I noticed Sofia was wearing a sleeveless skating dress. "Why don't we go inside?" I suggested. Sofia nodded and we rushed inside. 

Once we reached, miss flora approached us. "That was quite a show!" She exclaimed knowingly. We both blushed, knowing exactly what she was referring to. "The class has been dismissed. You are free to go" she informed. " thank you miss flora" Sofia said. Miss flora said goodbye before flying off. 

"Do you want to come by castle?" I offered. To be honest, he didn't want to leave Sofia's side. "Sure!" She said. We went to the carriages. Before we left Sofia found amber and told her to tell her parents that she was going to Hugo's castle. Amber wanted to ask Sofia questions, but she knew that Sofia would tell her everything once she got home. 

A few moments later me and Sofia got into the carriage. We took seats next to each other. Sofia nestled into me for warmth. I just laughed softly before putting an arm around her. We sat in a comfortable silence until we arrived. I got down first before offering my princess my hand. She took it and I helped her down. 

Then I took her on a tour of my palace. We took a stroll in the gardens and then had something to eat. Then we sat in the balcony and talked for a bit. 

"Where's your room?" She asked. "This way." I said and led her to a door nearby. I hoped that my room was clean. I grasped the Handle and pushed the door open. We entered and Sofia looked around. "You have a lounge in your room? And a fireplace?" She asked in disbelief. I nodded. "It can get quite cold in my kingdom so every room has a fireplace" he explained. 

Sofia was still wearing a sleeveless dress and I could tell she was cold. "I'll start a fire" I told her. A few minutes later a fire was roaring in the grate. We were sitting in a couch in front of the fire. Sofia's head was resting on my chest and She was wrapped in a blanket. 

I checked the time. It was around 8 o'clock. I looked at Sofia again. She was fast asleep. I smiled softly. She must be tired. I really didn't want to wake her. I picked her up bridal style and carried her to an extra room. I tucked a blanket tightly around her. I kissed her forehead. "Goodnight, my princess" I whispered before I left. 

I notified my parents and they agreed with my decision to not wake her and to let her sleep here. My parents sent a message to her family so they don't worry. I decided to retire to my room as it had been a long day for me too.
