"No, we had to turn at the other corner," Tessa yelled in my ear.

I abruptly stopped which caused her to bump into me and I lightly stumbled toward her.

"You know, maybe you should've just led the way like I suggested, You've been down here I haven't," I blurted out, even though I never liked someone else giving me directions.

"Yeah as if, just so you could freak out on me when we get there on time." Tessa knew me all too well, parties aren't my thing.

"'Tess? I don't think this is a good idea," I declared...again.

"It'll be fine, you'll see." She patted my back. "Blaise invited me and I'm inviting you." Her calm, flat tone did nothing to ease the tightness in my chest.

We approached the entrance of the Slytherin common room, "Just remember if I get even the slightest uncomfortable I'm leaving."

The sound of music bled through the door ever so slightly, the ward on the door was wearing off.

I don't wanna get caught, but we're all of age so I don't think they could do anything if they wanted...

Don't wanna take my chances.

I muttered a chant under my breath, these took longer than regular spells since it was a longer-term solution.

As I kept muttering something in Latin that I had no idea what it meant, the door swung open abruptly.

Lorenzo Berkshire stumbled out of the loud room. He quickly shut the door behind him and glanced at me.

He gave me his signature smile that he gave every single girl who had a heartbeat. "Thanks," he said gesturing at me being mid-spell.

I nodded my head in response and quickly finished up. The hallway was silent now.

Lorenzo whispered something under his breath and the door swung open, "Drinks are on the table."

Lorenzo disappeared into the loud room filled with bodies of students. Some were familiar some weren't, At stuff like this I realize that I know no one or know everyone.

"Wow." Tessa shouted into my ear, "Look at it in there!"

People bounced to the music, laughing and drinking. Or smoking, I'd never seen anyone smoke on Hogwarts grounds till now.

"He better not ruin this for me," I said, my voice sounding more forceful than usual. Enjoying one party with my best friend before I left Hogwarts for a year wasn't asking for too much.

Shaking my head, I looked to Tessa, who winked knowingly at me. I motioned toward the living room and we entered the common room.

The cool air immediately hit us, I'd never thought about it but it's probably the coldest house. It's under the black lake which is freezing.

My eyes glazed around a desk covered in various bottles of alcohol. Some were wizard brand and some were muggle.

I sighed and turned away, trying to refuse the need to drink. Alcohol calmed my anxiety in these types of situations, but I shouldn't.
