"I don't wanna hurt Harry," I finally said. no plausible emotions washed his face. "he's important to me." I finished.
"more important than me?" he questioned. the most difficult question he could ask. the question that could determine my future with him. "I don't know," I whispered.
hurt. an emotion finally able to be depicted from his blank face and it was hurt. it was just a millisecond, then his face turned back to its usual coldness. but that millisecond was enough to hate myself for hurting him.
"he's family, Mattheo," I held the sides of his jaw in my hands. "but i-i love-" he stopped me. "don't fucking say that until you're ready to choose me over anyone else. I love you, you don't love me."
I looked at his chest, contemplating my next argument. "you don't get to tell me what I feel for you."
he laughed in response. he grabbed my chin, "There's not a line in the world that I wouldn't cross for you, but your line is saint potter." he snarled, "It's insulting really."
I scoffed, turned on my heels, and started leaving. his footsteps quickly catered mine, "where are you going?" he demanded.
I didn't answer, he didn't follow.
I sped-walked down the corridors, seeing the goal in sight; the great hall. The sound of the students conversing and silverware clattering against plates became louder as I got closer. Ignored the pain from my ankles, running would be far less painful but seemed too theatrical.
My eyes quickly found the brown-haired boy in our usual spot. I rushed over and sat in the seat they reserved for me. "Bella, where have you been?" Harry asked.
"That's actually what I wanted to talk to you about, it's not really where I've been but rather who I've been with." I clarified looking down at my hands, feeling guilty.
He furrowed his brows, my eyes met his piercing green eyes. "What do you mean?" he asked, with newly profound suspicion. I looked over at Hermione and Ron for help that they couldn't give me even if they wanted to.
I took a while to find the words, "I like someone who you wouldn't approve of and I-I just don't want you to be upset with me."
His face fell, "Malfoy?" he immediately assumed. In that moment I wish it was Malfoy, he's far less problematic than Mattheo.
"No, not quite."
"It's Mattheo," I confessed, finally looking into his eyes.
He scowled, "You're not serious." he scathed. "Of course, she isn't Harry, calm down mate." Ron chimed in.
"I am serious, Ron"
"Oh, well you just fancy him right? you'll get over him in no time. no need for us to get our wands in a knot." he attempted to diffuse the tension and continued to eat his dinner.
"Harry, I want you to listen carefully to everything I'm about to say alright? We don't get to choose who we fall for, it just happens. And I've supported you with every girl you've ever fancied. And please just try to understand because you will be in my position in the very near future if you continue to peruse the girl you like right now. I know it's not the same thing, I know he's Tom Riddle's son, but believe me when I say Harry; Mattheo is nothing like his father. He's a good guy, he carries my books during passing periods, he reads to me, he's delicate with me, he's sweet, and he loves me, Harry. And he hates himself, he hates his father, and he hates every belief that tom riddle ever had. He doesn't care about blood purity, wealth, or anything minuscule like that. And Harry I've been trying to put my feelings aside for you, so I wouldn't hurt you. But I owe it to myself to at least attempt to talk to you about it. I just love the way he cares about animals and creatures, I love that he's bright and intelligent, I love that he doesn't care what people think about him, I love that he loves rain as I do, I love that he's a got a good heart, and I think I love him."
The silence from my three friends felt somewhat deafening. They all just stared at me for what felt like an eternity.
"Please say something," I begged, looking back and forth at the three friends.
"You're the closest thing I have to a sister and if that means to be accepting of who you choose for yourself then so be it." Harry finally said.
My face lit up and I threw my hands around his neck and planted a kiss on his cheek. "Thank you, Harry, I love love love you."
I glanced over at Hermione and Ron, they both nodded their heads in approval. After getting Harry's blessing I knew things would fall in line.
"I have to find him," I shot up from my seat "Thank you guys" they gave me soft smiles as I rushed out of the great hall."
I ran as fast as my legs would allow me, my surroundings becoming a blur. I ran down the stairs leading to the Slytherin dungeons.
"PHAUNUS" I yelled at the portrait merely scaring it out of his chair. He promptly let me in, I quickly scanned the room for the boy I could pick out of a crowd. Nothing. I ran down to his dorm, but nothing. Panic arose in me.
Astronomy tower. I left the common room in a hurry, wishing that I could apperate inside the castle.
My legs ached from the running but my adrenaline wouldn't let me stop. I climbed hundreds of stairs, coming from the lowest point in the castle to nearly the highest point in the castle.
My heart fell as I scanned the area, nothing. I slumped against the railing, tears threatening to spill out of my eyes. I looked out at the scenery, currently unable to appreciate its beauty. Until, I spotted him laying down on the grass in the courtyard, staring up at the stars. My heart skipped a beat, and to my feet's disappointment, I began running. If I wasn't running so fast earlier, I might I've seen him while leaving the great hall.
Once I spotted him, I slowed down in my tracks.
He didn't look at me when I lay down next to him. His presence was like a breath of fresh air, I could finally catch my breath. We finally looked at each other, "You're eyes are glistening. Who upset you?" he asked dangerously. "You," I replied, looking up at the starry night.
"I couldn't find you, thought I was going crazy," I added. "Oh, I saw you running through the halls like you were about to piss your pants." he laughed, "that explains it."
"Shut up," I playfully said. I intertwined his hand with mine. "Hey guess what?"
He quirked a brow but didn't say anything.
"We're infinite"
His face lit up, and he almost immediately sat up. "Took you long enough to realize."
I climbed over his legs and straddled him. His lips met mine, and they melted together. "You're mine," he whispered. deepening the kiss. he planted his hands on my hips, "Say you're mine" he tightened his grip on my waist as if someone was going to take me away from him, like a child with a toy. "say it." he demanded, moving his passionate kisses from my jaw to my neck. "I'm yours, Mattheo, I'm yours." My words drove him crazy. He moved me to the ground and tore my flimsy blouse open. "Theo!" I exclaimed. "What?" he said as he dipped his head to my breasts leaving marks with his mouth at the borders of my bra. "We're outside."
"so?"
"So, we're not going to do this here?"
"Do what?" he playfully quirked a brow.
"You know."
He completely stopped, "No I don't know. Please enlighten me, Arabella."
"Shut up, and let's go," I said holding my now buttonless top close with my hands. Mattheo took off his robe and gave it to me. He led me out of the darkness and took me through the now crowded corridor towards the dungeons.
