It was a disaster the moment I stepped into my house after months of avoiding the place.

My mother was pushing Kevin hard, my step father was massaging his forehead. I frowned and gave my bag to the maid before I joined the drama. My high heels announced my presence and Kevin turned to me. I knew that moment. He had fucked up. Because he wasn't alone. My personal assistant, Liam was there too.

Kevin's eyes looked dead. He had given up. Liam was standing a few steps away, head hung low. I knew this was coming, but didn't realise the severity of the situation. "Kevin..."

"Did you know?" My mother's sharp voice made me jump. "Song Ara, I'm asking you something. Did you fucking know?"

"Honey, you need to calm down-" My step father tried but in vain.

"You stay out of it." She glared at him and turned to me. "You brother has officially broken his engagement with Chayoung. He even told that stupid girl about the potential warning Jungwon had received from her parents end. Do you know how furious Park family is? Chayoung has broken her ties with her family. She has left her home-"

"Good for her." Kevin shrugged.

My eyes bulged out. This wasn't my step brother. My carefree, always so charming, obedient brother. "Kev, what are you saying?"

"You know what, mother," He dragged the word as if disgusted by it. "I and Chayoung should do the same. Severe our ties with you and your fucking empire."

"Kevin. Mind your tongue!" My step father grumbled.

"Chayoung. You want me to marry Chayoung because you want me to be the face of your company. The future CEO of your empire. You know what? Fuck your world. I don't want it."

"Kevin. Shut up!" I grabbed his arm, glaring. "Don't dare to talk to my mother like this."

"Let him say. What else, son?" My mother was petty like that. "What other things you've to say to defend your sickness?"

"Being Gay is not sickness!" He yelled so loud, even I jumped away from him, scared. "I love Liam and he loves me. This is the modern world. If you're still stuck in middle age, that's your fucking problem!" Kevin went and dragged Liam to the front, hand intertwined in his. "I love him. My only one."

"Ara's father did the same thing. He chose love and you know how he spent his remaining life? On the streets, earning scrapes. You're leaving everything for a faggot-"

"Mother!" Kevin screamed, stepping toe to toe with her, eyes red with anger. "One more insult, and I'll forget you're the person who brought me up."

"Leave." A tear rolled down my mum's cheek. This was the same scene from years ago. My father in Kevin's place, defended his love in front of my mum. "Never show your face here."

"Gladly," Kevin spit out and. Liam was trembling in fear, his eyes full of tears. "Let's go."

"Shit," I muttered under my breath and followed them out. "Kev, wait. We can talk it out. Listen to me."

"No. Ara, I'm done hiding. I can't let her control my life anymore." Kevin let go off Liam and cupped my cheeks. "I know you don't like me or my father, but we've always considered you family. This is as your older brother, I'm saying, don't let her control you. This isn't worth it. She's letting her anger and trauma out on us, and it's not nice."

"I know you have loved Liam since forever but she has loved you too, Kev. Don't you think she deserve-"

"She deserves everything. I can give her everything but I can't let her insult my beloved. I just can't." Kevin looked away. "I love Liam. If she can't understand this, I think it's better I leave before I start hating her more than I already do."
