You can't believe this. Why weren't you more careful? You've already heard about the increase in monster sightings over the last few weeks, in fact Cody had even reminded you of them, practically begging you to wait until a few soldiers or Sheikah colleagues could accompany you, but you still dismissed his concern (idiotically, too).
You're a sorceress - a part of the best race in Hyrule, as your father and tribe often proclaim. You could handle yourself (as far as you were convinced anyway). Besides, it's not like you were going that far from the Castle, just to the Western fields. You told everyone that you'd be checking recent progress at the nearest research camp, although truthfully, you just wanted an excuse to explore, having never been on this side of Hyrule before. Because of that, you aren't familiar with the area nor the threats that lurk here, thus you had been blissfully unaware that a lynel had recently called these fields home until it was charging directly at you.
You fought as hard as you could - spells and all - but ultimately you were surprised and scared. You've never even fought a bokoblin before let alone one of the most fierce monsters known to this land! You weren't prepared for the swiftness of each step and force behind each blow. It took no time at all for you to get hurt - sliced across the arm as the beast easily slashed through your magic barrier. You truly thought that would be it - the end of your life until a crash of metal hit your ears instead of your body.
Link. What was he even doing all the way out here? Isn't he Zelda's personal guard? The Castle's miles off, only seen barely over the top of distant hills. Is it really just coincidence that he happened to be passing by without Her Highness or did he intentionally follow you out here for reasons unknown? You don't dare to ask, refusing to so much as look at him as he delicately wraps a bandage around your arm as if this is far from his first time doing so.
"...I'm sorry you had to save me like that," Is the first thing you say against the unbearable silence, watching in the corner of your eyes as Link merely nods. His expression gives nothing away on whether he's annoyed with this situation, but you assume he is. Sacred hero or not, it couldn't have been easy killing that lynel all for the sake of some foolish sorceress he barely knows, "...I suppose I still have a lot to learn fighting wise..."
Link pauses briefly to peek up at you before wordlessly going back to working on your arm.
"...Father's going to freak out," You mumble under your breath, fully drawing Link's silent gaze away from your wound to your face at last. He's shocked to see tears brimming your eyes as you stubbornly glare at the ground.
"You're safe," He points out quietly. Although he has mellowed out considerably since, Link remembers being a rambunctious child who often got hurt due to his antics. His own father would give him stern lectures following, yet each one would end in a tone of relief and a hug. He assumes your father will be the same, simply thankful that the damage isn't undoable.
While it may not have been much, Link hoped his words would offer some comfort, however instead, your nose scrunches up in irritation, the movement causing a few tears to fall, "Only because a Hylian saved me! Father will be livid! I-I'll never hear the end of it!"
Link bows his head sadly. He would be deaf not to hear the many rumors about the 'difficult' history that exists between Sorcerers and Hylians - those hushed whispers turned into snarled chatter shortly after Cody began working at the Castle then you...Although you've both seemed to be adjusting fairly well since, Link remembers the fear in your eyes when you first became Champions. Hylia knows what lies you've been fed in regards to her people who greatly outnumber you at the Castle; nothing nice considering the awful things Link himself has been told about your kind. He's not sure if he ever believed any of it and regardless of whether you did in the beginning, he's willing to bet you don't now...Still, you're only one sorceress. Your tribe must continue to harbor harsh resentment towards Hylians in which they push upon you.
