Greetings to the group! Hope all is well...
Sorry, but got a soapbox moment coming... Ready?
📗Reading is supposed to be relaxing, fun, a way to escape or enjoy yourself somewhere else. I am escaping some pretty sad things going on in real life. I totally feel that way when I'm mad at Saer, standing in the Temple of Sapientia, or on the Wanderlust with Tanden. 📕
Real life is paramount.
The point is...when life fills up, sometimes you can't have that escape. If a reading assignment becomes another deadline, the club rule comes into effect. LIFE FIRST
Don't feel guilty. We all have things going on and IT'S OKAY. 😲
So those of you on hiatus, we wish you the best and we'll be here. Even if we only have a small number of readers, the moderators talked and decided that's just fine. Books will be read and finished quicker and IT'S OKAY.
Life comes first.
We'll keep the group open even if it boils down to just two or three readers a week.
It's okay.
Whelp, off the soapbox.
NOTES
As per the usual: Any questions or concerns, please contact your friendly moderators here or on Discord.
Do let us know if there's anything we can do or experiment with to make the club more engaging or enticing! Always happy to shake things up. :)
If readership goes down to three, we'll most likely do a round-robin where readers read one chapter from each book. That might occur next week as we bid the wonderful KitCatK8 a happy REAL vacation with NO responsibilities. You deserve this, girl.
RogueWriter55 is supposed to be Book of the Month for September, but we might put that program on hold for a bit while we settle into our new norm.
ACTIVE READERS
@DelaneyBrenna - Would like her partner to keep an eye out for repetition with information/descriptors.
@KitCatK8 - Requests any and all feedback, no need to pull punches. Any suggestions on wording, grammar, and spelling are always welcome. Does the story hold your interest? Why or why not? What are your thoughts/theories/feelings about the characters and their relationships/interactions with one another? If something evokes an emotional response (laughter, cringing, tears, fear), I want to know!! Opinions are welcome on what would make the story better.
@RogueWriter55 - Would like to know if the story is interesting, clear, and concise. PLEASE, point out any typos or parts that sound like an IKEA manual written in Swedish. (Translation: It's not clear) I'll take any advice I can get.
@juliecotewriter - Would love any kind of feedback/editing with an eye toward feedback on the worldbuilding. Mainly things in the genre of, does it make sense and feel realistic, or are there places that should be explained more, or things that seem to contradict. For Wanderlust: looking at feedback on how the relationship is progressing and the character growth of the main characters.
