I can see my reflection in the mirror
The shine and the glitter
But what about the scars,
Hidden beneath the skin
The emotions and the thoughts
Which bang on the cage of my flesh
A thousand feelings,
Which rule my mind and heart
Playing them like strings on a harp
Memories, some forgotten
Others hidden deep somewhere like diamonds.
Dreams, borne in the silence
And broken in the dark.
Yet on my skin, I don't see
Those grooves and ridges that define me.
As I look at my reflection,
I think of others, is it them I see
Or just their reflection.
