~ How It Happened ~

Hallo! This is the first 'official' book that I plan to finish. It may take a while but I've had this idea for a WHILE and finally sucked it up and decided to write it. My writer's block is partially gone, so hopefully, this is a good chapter; I already have several more in the works. Anyway, enjoy this first chapter of 'The Spider's Secret'!

Peter's figure could hardly be seen in the back of the wet, dingy alley he lay in; he was on the bad side of New York. Peter was shaky from pain; it had just been pouring freezing rain, and he was soaked to the bone. Peter's stomach shot pain through him as it gurgled, his stomach felt as if it was trying to eat itself. "Ugh.." Peter gurgled in pain, laying against the wall of the alley, his head falling back to thunk against the grimy wall. He had woken from the rain a few minutes before; it was the cusp of winter, and since the spider bite, he hadn't been able to thermoregulate his heat, constantly cold, and this rain just made it worse.

He could hardly feel his fingers, so numb from the rain. But you may be wondering how Peter Parker, the lively teenager who was brilliant, went to Midtown High, and had an internship with Tony Stark, ended up shivering on the streets and severely malnourished. So lets go back about a month and show you how this all happened in the first place.

Peter was practically beaming as he bounced on the balls of his feet, he was waiting for his aunt to get home. Peter was ecstatic to share the news with Aunt May; he'd aced a chemistry exam that was worth 50% of his final grade; Peter had been studying extensively for months. He began to worry; it'd been getting later and later, yet Aunt May still hadn't come back or called about a long shift. He froze when he heard his phone ring out loudly. Peter glanced around for his phone, finding it on the couch, traversing past the sharply cornered kitchen table to grab his phone.

Peter's breath caught in his throat when he saw the number but he spoke quickly. "Hello?" His voice trembled, then the deeper voice came through the speaker. "Hello, is this Peter Parker?" Peter gulped audibly before nodding and speaking up again as he realized the person couldn't see him. "Yes.. this is Peter Parker" He whispered. The voice came through, it was somber. "I'm sorry to inform you, but your Aunt got into a life-ending car accident; she died shortly after arriving at the hospital; we are sorry for contacting you so late." Peter froze, he didn't know what to do, what could he say...

The sickening beeping of the call ending left him feeling sick to his stomach. Aunt May.. his lively Aunt who he'd seen simply a few hours earlier when it was still morning. She was gone. How would he live... Peter's knees grew weak, he didn't know what to do.

He let out a heartbroken cry as he crumbled to the ground. He was hunched over, hands covering his face as hot tears ran down his cheeks. His breathing was rough, he couldn't control it. He was on the verge of a panic attack when Karen, his AI, called out. "Peter, would you like me to call Mr.Stark? Your heartbeat is elevated, and you are beginning to hyperventilate; it seems you are starting to have a panic attack," The slightly British-accented AI voice of Karen spoke out; she sounded almost concerned. Well, as concerned as an AI could be. Peter's breath caught as his eyes widened in alarm. "No! No! Don't call Mr.Stark" Peter quickly gasped out, his voice breathy and raspy as he tried to get air, yet still not wishing to bother his mentor and father figure.

Peter could barely control his breathing, what was he supposed to do... Oh god's what would he do? He was shaky as he tried to stand, his knees felt so weak as he grabbed his phone. He looked around frantically, he couldn't live here. No not anymore... He grabbed his backpack from school and stuffed a few changes of clothes into it before he ran, he ran out of the building as fast as his legs could take him. And he just kept running, he didn't look back. He couldn't live here anymore. No, he couldn't live like this...

Guess who was a dumbass and never wrote down the plot for this book and just trusted their head to store it for them... That's right. Me! Oh well, I'm trying my best to make this a good story, though I know it isn't the best. Who cares, though? If anyone does read this, I'm sorry it's so crappy! I'm just super fuckin' tired, and writer's block + art block is no help.
