After they had both finished their dinner, the two then decided to check into a Best Western hotel not far ahead up the road, so that they can have a place to stay for the night."So, how did you like the food? Was the breadsticks up to your satisfaction?" Tom asked in a tease while him and Jerry were waiting for a hotel receptionist to come by the front desk to check them in.
Since it was now late at night.
And there were not a lot of customers coming through the lobby.
"Honestly, it was actually pretty good. I'm glad you took me there. I even enjoyed the pasta, very much." Jerry complimented with a smile.
"See? What did I tell ya? Now aren't I good at picking places to eat out?" Tom asked in a funny show-off tone in attempts to annoy him.
"Okay, Mr. Hot Shot. There's no need to brag about it. But I am curious to know if you really thought the place was that good. You should have seen the amazing restaurants I was able to go to back in New York City. They are truly to die for and have been reviewed highly by the top chefs in the city." Jerry expressed out excitedly.
"Really? Do any of those places happen to involve sewer rats and piles of garbage all over the floor? Because that would certainly be a rip-off in my pocketbook." Tom teased, sarcastically.
"Oh. Har har. You can joke all you want about the trashy business that those people back there called food, but it wasn't funny to me. I guarantee you that none of the restaurants I have ever been to, won't fall into any of that category." Jerry insists.
"Alright Gordon Ramsay, I'll just have to take your word on it, then." Tom joked with a smile as an older man soon appeared to the front desk and signed into his computer log-in system.
"Hi there, gentlemen. Sorry for the long wait. Are you two checking in this evening?" The hotel receptionist asked them both.
"Yes, we would like one room with two beds please and we're only going to stay for the night. We'll be checking out first thing in the morning. Is there by any chance that you could squeeze us in without any required reservations?" Tom asked, curiously.
"Of course, it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Let me just see what we have available." The hotel receptionist said before tapping away on his computer to check on the availability in the areas before getting a small list of empty rooms in front of the screen.
"I'm sorry gentlemen, but we currently only have two single bedded rooms available and they are both right across from each other in the same floor. Would that still be okay?" The hotel receptionist asked then before he gets ready to assign over the rooms to them.
"I suppose, we will have to make do with that. Jerry are you alright with it too?" Tom asked him, glancing over in his direction.
"Sure, I guess." Jerry said in a simple shrug with a small grin while attempting to hide the stumped look on his face.
"Alright. I'll get your rooms started then. I just need to see a major credit card and a form of ID from each of you for incidental insurance purposes." The receptionist said before Tom pulls out his wallet and hands over his credit card along with his ID over to him.
"Here. You can just use mine. I'm gonna pay for both of our rooms." Tom said as Jerry suddenly whips his head around, shocked.
"What?! Are you sure? Tom, that too much. You've already paid for of our dinners on top of all that gas money for driving. Let me at least pay for my room." Jerry said, modestly.
"Don't worry about it. I got us covered." Tom insisted, to which at this point, Jerry couldn't really say no to that thoughtful gesture.
"Okay, then." Jerry mumbled while the two wait for the receptionist to put the Visa card and ID in the check-in section of their payment, with his face down in the dumps at the fact that Tom was doing so much for him.
