CHAPTER 15

Even though Nani tried buying time by pushing everyone to take something not before ordering the newly mothers to check if their children are well fed, but the tension in the room didn't go unnoticed. The elders closed their eyes sighing tiredly preparing themselves for the revelation ahead for past wasn't a good memory to be revived.

They thought it was a buried memory but they were proved wrong moments ago. Their children stared at them helplessly who looked defeated as they wait for Arshi and Payash on the dinning.

None was able to take more than two morsel due to anxiousness or loss of appetite. Arnav and Aakash stared at their wives blank eyes in worry but by now they understood past holds something which will shatter some beliefs and trust on their kind.

Immediately everyone assemble in the living room ,Nani looked around and a lone tear escaped her eyes for she herself played a part in the past. She wished she can run back to past undo somethings,for her eyes of living has taught her a lot.

"Nani do you know a person by the name Gayatri Sharma?"question Khushi looking at her who was deeply thinking,"Gayu, am sure your mother must have told you of such a name or maybe utter it"added Khushi

Nani looked at her shocked while others looked speechless listening to her,composing herself she uttered,"Bitiya the only person I know by that name was my father's only sister. Though have never seen her but I heard she eloped from the village at the age of 20 that to at her marriage day."

"Your right Gayatri was just 20yrs when she was forced with her brother to marry a 43yrs wealthy farmer ,a widower and father of 4. She tried denying until she found out her brother has already agreed on the proposal

She tried everything within herself to make sure the marriage doesn't hold but she herself alone could not do much. Marriage day arrived yet she could do nothing rather than crying on her own fate until when the news of the groom death circulate all over the village making her relieved.

Though the problem rised when the village demanded her to live as her widow and raise the deceased children left behind. She was against it and denied which angered the villagers who promised to burn her to death to the extend of calling her a curse who killed her husband on their wedding day.

Gayatri begged her brother to save her revealing of her unwillingness to live as a widow when the deceased never tied a mangalsutra on her neck. But her brother wasn't of help for she advised her to live as a widow. She felt betrayed hearing him and left from their heartbroken with her heart mourning.

Until her sister-in-law came as her saviour and advised her to elope from the village and save herself and her life from being destroyed. A shaken Gayatri knew that was the only way out but she didn't know how to go by it since she has never moved out of the village but she still prepared herself to embrace it if it is the only way to protect herself.

In the middle of the night when Mahendra was asleep ,your mother helped Gayatri in moving out of the house and that was the last time they saw each other. Next day Gayatri elopement reached the head chief which created chaos but with time everything settle down not before death penalty being issued on her immediately anyone sets eyes on her.

Gayatri due to her good cooking skill secured a job in between her journey in exchange of a place to sleep and one meal a day which was ok with her. In between she met a couple who liked and enjoyed food prepared by her,they offered her an offer of working in their newly open restraunt in Bangalore.
