She's in danger

You are restless, tossing and turning for what feels like hours. Replaying the plan in your head, trying to think for every possible outcome. Starting to drift off to sleep, you are awakened by the scent of him, and his voice again.

?: "What's wrong, Princess? Scared?"

Y/N: "Is that what you want, Loki? Me to quiver with fear over you?"

Loki: "You're going to quiver for me love, I have plans for you".

Y/N: "And what would those be? You have said this before. I'm starting think it's just words".

Loki: "You will see soon enough. Sleep pet. You're going to need it".

You close your eyes and take a deep breathe, trying to calm your nerves. You hear your phone vibrate and open a text from an unknown number.

?: "Remember, I can get to you anywhere. Times running out pet. See you soon."

You start to think you might be in over your head, starting to wish you could just go back to serial killers. At least they don't have stupid magical powers. You sigh and throw your phone into your night stand and roll over and drift off.

You wake up to someone crawling into bed behind you, and you smile. You reach over and grab their arm and wrap it around you.

Y/N: "Mmm good morning. I missed you last night".

Nat: "mmm me too bitch". You sit up and look at her and she can't stop laughing.

Y/N: "Nat, I thought you were Bucky!"

Nat pouts, and replies "Ouch! That hurts. Do you not think of me at all?" Then resumes laughing. "C'mom, we need to start setting up for the party".

Y/N: "I feel like we still have a few days? Didn't we say in a week?"

Nat: "Yea, but Tony decided to move it up. Loki has something planned but we can't figure out what it is so we want to do this sooner than later, before he hurts anyone else".

Y/N:"Oh. Shit. Ok" you say as you get up and go to brush your teeth.

Nat: "Hey, what's wrong? We are still sticking with the plan right? I know Loki has been getting into your head. So I figured, if he is still in there, he would..."

You spit and reply "yes. Just thought I had a little more time is all. But don't tell me anything else. I need him to jump at the chance to do this tonight, so I don't need anymore information in my head that he can get to".

Nat: "You got this, right?"

Y/N: "As long as you guys have me, like we talked about. Oh, Steve knows by the way".

Nat: "Yea, he told me. Alright, well let's get ready for a press conference".

Y/N: "Wait, what?"

Nat: "Well we have to announce you and the party. So, make yourself camera ready, downstairs in 30 minutes".

You get dressed and meet everyone in the foyer.

Tony: "Ok guys, I know this isn't our normal way of doing things, but given what happened in New York, we are swinging this to show the world that we are taking it seriously and bringing in the best of the best. Y/N, your time to shine. Cap, I want you to stand up there with us. The world needs to see your face. Unless you have a problem with that princess?" He questions to Bucky.

Steve: "Actually, I think you're right. Bucky, I think you need to stay in the shadows".

Bucky: "Ok...why?"

Y/N: "Part of the plan, Buck. I just need you all to trust me on this".

Tony: "Ok well, let's go".

Everyone goes to walk out to the conference but Bucky grabs your hand and pulls you back.

Bucky: "Doll, I have a bad feeling. Why couldn't you tell us all the plan? How am I supposed to protect you without all of the information"

You brush his cheek, and say "James, I need you to trust me. There are things in play that I cannot let everyone in on, this won't work if I do. Can you do that? Trust me?"

Bucky looks at you concerned, but agrees to let you lead and that he is going to stay behind to set up for the party. You walk out with the others, putting on your best confident face. Steve gives you a smile, and reassures you that you do, indeed, got this.

The next hour is a blur for you. Standing with Tony and Steve at either side of you, cameras and flashing lights. The crowd was so loud but all you could hear was your own heart beat in your ears. You feel Steve's finger rub your arm, his attempt to bring you back.

Tony: "So we introduce our newest recruit, Dr, Y/N Y/L/N. The crowd flashes pictures and starts screaming questions at you. Tony let everyone know that you would not be taking questions at this time, and announced the celebration to be held tonight at the compound.

You all walk back inside and you go to head back to your room. The party starts in a few hours, and you need to get ready.

Nat: "hey guys, can I talk to you a second?"

Tony: "What's up red?"

Nat: "not here, conference room"

Clint: "want me grab Y/N and Buck?"

Nat: "No. This needs to stay between us."

Tony: "I don't understand, Nat. What's going on?"

Nat: "Clint will you get Steve in here please, we need another plan".

Steve: "already ahead of you" he says from behind them.

Bruce: "I thought Y/N had a plan already? And if it's not good, why are we not including her right now?"

Steve: "She's in danger. She can't know about this."

Tony: "Jesus, you know what's going on too? will someone tell ME what the fuck is going on? I swear it's like pulling teeth to get you idiots to explain anything"

Thor walks in at this moment, "because he's already gotten to her, and he will do whatever he can to take her".
