𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺

The grinding of coffee beans was a nice distraction from my three friends howling with laughter in the booth, reminiscing on my interesting dating life.

The doorbell chimed and before I turned around to greet the customer, I walked over to the sink, running my hands under the water, watching the coffee grounds disappear down the drain. "Excuse me," I looked over my shoulder and had to physically stop my jaw from dropping. The man standing behind the counter was one of the most attractive men I have ever seen. Dark blue eyes locked on mine, black hair that seemed almost blue in the sunlight streaming from the window, clean-shaven, but had an edge that screamed danger, just my type. "I'm looking for a girl," I wiped my hands with paper towels, stepping up to the counter as the man spoke, "Her name is Serenity."

The silence that filled the room was deafening, but I plastered on a smile, it didn't feel fake like most times when I dealt with customers, "That would be me," the man's mouth stretched in a grin, his hands tucked into his pockets, and his shyness was endearing, "How can I help you?"

"Wow," He blew out a breath, his eyes taking in the full scope of my body, "Grandpa said you were beautiful, but I didn't think you'd be this beautiful," I felt my cheeks heat up, glancing over the man's shoulder to see Sam and Bucky watching with smirks, and when I stole a glance at Steve, his mouth was tight, his knuckles white around the coffee cup, but before the man could see my eyes leave him, I held his gaze once more, "Sorry," He pulled his hand out of his pocket, offering it to me, bringing my hand up to his lips when I placed my fingers in his palm, "My name's Nolan, Nolan Thomas."

"It's wonderful to meet you, Nolan," I smiled, bringing my hand back to my side and trying to ignore the way electricity shot up my arm, "What can I get started for you today?"

"What's your favorite on the menu?"

I tapped my finger to my chin when I turned around to look at the menu board above my head, "I think I like the classic caramel latte," I looked over my shoulder, seeing Nolan's eyes snap back up to my face, "I would suggest that unless there's something else you would like?"

"Does taking you on a date count as something else I'd like?"

I saw his smirk grow when my mouth dropped open, I couldn't help it. No one had ever been so bold with asking me, especially a stranger, but I eventually managed to get my brain to catch up with everything going on, my jaw snapping shut. "I think it does," he pulled out his card, watching my fingers move across the screen when I entered the price, gesturing for him to slide his card through. When the green check mark appeared I sent a smile towards him, "It'll be ready in a second."

I turned around quickly, trying to hide the giant smile that formed. Nolan was the first person that made the butterflies erupt in my stomach in months. He was so confident, and that made me comfortable, it made me able to navigate the words he was saying and be sure that he meant everything he said. My brain was on autopilot, creating the latte and when I finished, turning towards the end of the counter, Nolan stood like he knew exactly what was going through my brain. I took careful steps, setting the hot coffee down on the counter, "One caramel latte," I smiled softly, stepping back.

"Tonight, seven, there's a new bar that opened up in the borough, The Red Star Brewery, how does that sound?"

"Sounds amazing," I placed my hands on the counter, leaning my weight on them so I didn't start bouncing with excitement, "I'll meet you there."
