"I can help!"
I was released from the hospital two days ago, and since then Steve has forced me to stay in bed while he packed up my apartment. "And I'm capable of packing alone baby," Steve caged me against the mattress, and I pouted when he leaned down to kiss me, several pecks being placed against my lips. "You and the baby need as much rest as possible."
"I'm only four weeks," I muttered against his mouth, sighing when he kissed me again. Steve knew it was the most effective way to stop me from arguing with him. How could it not be? And when his palm spread across my stomach, I completely melted into the mattress. Since we found out I was pregnant, Steve has been nothing but loving, he's taken it better than I have. If we were out doing something, his hand was in mine, he was shielding me from people who glanced my way. He had become so overprotective, that sometimes it was infuriating. But when he was home with me, there was no hesitation for him to love on me, and on our baby. So, he slowly stroked my stomach with his thumb, kissing me like I was the sweetest thing he'd ever tasted.
"It was nearly unbearable to witness you two before we found out," Bucky muttered from the doorway, and Steve pulled away from me to look over his shoulder at our best friend, "Now, it's disgusting." There was no malice in Bucky's tone, just pure love with a teasing tone. "The movers are here, put your hackles down and let them into the room with her so they can start taking stuff out."
"I told them to do the kitchen and living room."
"They need to put the big furniture in first Steve, I know you don't want other people looking at her, but damn we need to get out of this apartment."
"Steve, baby," I placed my hand on his arm, forcing his attention back on me. The sharpness of his features softened when he gazed at me, the irritation and snarkiness being replaced by a soft smile and love in his eyes. He has always been protective of me, but this was overbearing and it was making things difficult for everyone to work with. I just needed to get out of the apartment. "I can go to your mom's, just let me shower and pack an overnight bag."
"Baby."
"Steven," His jaw snapped shut almost immediately when I used his full name, "Nothing is going to get done if I'm here, you're too worried about me and how I'm feeling and Bucky is right, we need to get out of this apartment tonight, because tomorrow we need to move Bucky out of his, and you will let me help," He sighed, scrubbing down his face. He was tired, I knew he was, I knew he wasn't sleeping through the night because he was once again worried about me not breathing, which was crucial for not only my health but for the baby's health too. "Plus I'll just be at your mom's, so she'll be able to watch me, and make sure I'm taking the meds at the right time."
"She's offering a solid solution punk."
Steve shot Bucky a poisonous glare that just made him laugh loudly. "Just go tell the movers to pack up the kitchen and living room, I'll be out there soon."
Bucky grumbled a response and I sighed tiredly when he left the room, turning to look at Steve. "Steve, you can't be this overprotective."
Steve shot me an apologetic look before lying beside me on the bed, his hand spreading across my stomach. "I know baby, I'm just overwhelmed, I'm sorry," I smiled at him when he kissed my shoulder, "I want this to go smoothly, you're still sick and I don't want to add any more stress to us right now," I watched Steve's hand as his thumb stroked my stomach softly, "I love you Serenity, I just want to make this all easy for you."
