"Mom, can I go get my first Pokémon today? Pleeeeeeaaaase?" Today was the day my dad told me to stop by to get my first Pokémon from Professor Rowan. I was so excited to start my journey today that I could hardly sleep last night.

"Yes, fine. Just be back before lunch and then we will discuss your journey then." My mom finally had given in.

"Oh thank you, thank you, thank you! I will see you after I get my first Pokémon. Bye mom." I raced out the door to get to Professor Rowan's Lab in the next town, Sandgem Town.

My name is Chandra, and today is the day I finally get a Pokémon of my own. I am actually 18 years old and had many times to start, but I wanted others to go before me, mainly because every time I go to get my Pokémon, they did not seem to like me. I have neck length brown hair and brown eyes. I am short for my age so some people think that I am a new trainer, which I am. My usual outfit consists of a purple shirt with blue jeans,  which can be adjusted to become shorts, and purple shoes. I usually wear a purple scarf around my neck as well as my lucky charm. I got this charm from my dad when he found it at the Spiral Pilar. It is shaped like a pokéball and is half light purple and is half light orange, my two favorite colors.

I know I don't have any Pokémon with me so I promised my mom I will not walk in the tall grass if I could avoid it. The route has a grassless path that I have worn down by visiting the Professor's lab countless times.

I have been inside the Professor's lab before, but now I did not care what was going on, I just wanted my first Pokémon. But when I got there, my dad said that I got there too late, all to Rowan's Pokémon have been given away. I was crushed and upset about it. I have been waiting my entire life to get a Pokémon and now I have no way to catch any. So I left the Lab to walk home.

I did not dare walk fast, for I was afraid to tell my mom about me not getting a Pokémon yet. I took the longest way possible to think about what I was going to say to my mom. About half way to my house, my lucky charm started to shine. I did not want anyone to see it shining, so I ran into the woods to a secret clearing that only I know about.

The entrance overlooks the beautiful Lake Verity. The clearing is covered with leaves because of the trees that have stretched their limbs over most of the clearing. A small hole in the limbs lets enough light in and a few of my Pokémon friends live there too.

I have a rare gift, I can talk to Pokémon. I know it is rare because I had spoken to Professor Rowan's Starly when it was sick to ask it what was wrong and it told me what to do. I told my dad and Rowan what to do and Starly got better. They were surprised that I could talk to Starly that they told me not to talk to Pokémon in front of other people, excluding them.
