The next morning, I woke up feeling a bit relaxed than before but nightmares kept waking me up in the night. I looked at the watch near the bed to see that it was 11 am so I looked around to find a bathroom. Once I spotted one in the corner of the room, I went in and took a shower.
After I took a shower ,I realised I forgot to ask for some clothes. Just wonderful. I remember Marissa telling me there were some towels in the cupboard and so I took one out and went in the bedroom with my towel secured around me. I heard the door creak open and went to close it, when Marissa came in looking a bit shocked.
"Sorry dear, I thought you were asleep. Where are your clothes?" asked Marissa.
"Yeah about that I'm really sorry but I need some clothes" I said looking embarrassed.
"why didn't you say so dear, of course you can borrow some of my clothes" Marissa said laughing at the situation at hand
"Thank you" I said thankful for some clothes.
"No problem you should not be thanking me OK" said Marissa seriously.
Marissa left the room closing the door behind her as she went. I felt so useless right now and it made me feel horrible. I really had to earn some money for a living. Marissa is a wonderful person to let me stay here. You can not find people like her in this world filled with hate and destruction. As I stood there thinking, Marissa came in with some clothes that looked like they would fit me. I thanked her once more as she left me so I could change. As I put on the white blouse with the blue jeans, I felt more relaxed than before.
I went downstairs to see a few customers. My life was so different before compared to this. Even as a rich kid I always knew that money could not buy everything in life. I may have looked like my parents but that was always the difference between us, they thought money could buy anything and everything. I felt a few tears fall freely from my eyes. I didn't realise someone was calling me ,until I looked down to see Isabella looking at me with a little frown on her sweet little face.
"Tori why are you crying?. I don't like you crying." said Isabella.
"Sorry sweetie I was just upset that's all but I'm fine now" I said smiling. That girl could make anyone smile even in the worst situations with her little angelic face. "Where is your mother?."
"She's in the kitchen. Lots of people come to the cafe at this time so she has to get everything prepared." replied Isabella. "Come on I'll show you where the kitchen is"
I laughed as she took my hand and pulled me towards the kitchen which was quite big. "Hello Marissa. how can I help you?" I said enthusiastically.
"Oh finally your here. OK I want you to be the waitress and ask for their orders and then deliver. Is that fine with you because both my waitresses could not make it today. I am sorry because it gets kind of hectic at the cafe at this time."
said Marissa in a rush.
"Calm down Marissa It's fine don't worry" I said to calm her down and myself because I had never done anything like this before in my life. I was not allowed a job because there was no need. I hated thinking about my past but it always followed me wherever I went.I hid my emotions with a blank face and went to my first customer who was a old man who seemed like an important person. I went up to him and asked him what he wanted and then gave it to Marissa who took it happily and went to the kitchen to get started.
I worked like that for a few hours taking orders, serving and cleaning and then went to take a break. I checked the time to see that it was past 6. Seems like a worked a lot. As I went to get something to eat I felt as though someone was watching me. I turned around to find myself staring at pitch black eyes. They suddenly just disappeared and were replaced by a leaflet on the wall. That was weird. There must be something wrong with me, cause I'm seeing things. I walk towards the kitchen in search of food. As I open the fridge Marissa comes in.
"Are you looking for food dear?" asks Marissa
"yes I'm hungry"I said shyly and just in time my stomach starts to grumble. Marissa starts to laugh at this.
"Don't worry I'm making dinner. Can you please call Isabella. She's upstairs in her room." said Marissa.
"sure" I said and I went upstairs to call her. I was about to open the door when Isabella came out smiling.
"TORI!!" exclaimed Isabella as she beamed at me with a beautiful smile.
"BELLA!!" I said just as cheerfully."Come on It's time for dinner".
"OK"she said as she followed me downstairs.
I guess this is how my life was meant to be after all the disaster and I love it just the way it is because I got to meet two great people. After hardship there comes ease. But I have been through enough to know that this is just the silence before the storm. I know they will find me one day and there is a new threat out there for me to face but for now I am going to enjoy this while I can before its too late. They say when life gives you a thousand reasons to cry show life you have a thousand reasons to smile.
