Chapter 2
The next few days were a routine. Tuesday night I found out my parents were going to come to the talent show and I literally flipped out. I have not seen them since because they went on another business trip. Today was Friday. The day my life will end. The day I have dreaded to come. The day my mom sees me sing. I was now walking to the auditorium to practice before the talent show starts. I walked next to the stage where they kept the guitars. That’s one thing I like about this school they have instruments for kids to use whenever they want in the auditorium. Of course they can’t go outside of this room but it’s still cool I walked to the edge of the stage with the guitar and sat down. I started to play the song Firework by Katy Perry “Do you ever feel like a plastic bag, drifting through the wind wanting to start again? Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin like a house of cards, one blow from caving in? Do you ever feel already buried deep? 6 feet under screams but no one seems to hear a thing Do you know that there's still a chance for you 'Cause there's a spark in you You just got to ignite, the light, and let it shine Just own the night like the 4th of July 'Cause baby you're a firework Come on, show 'em what you're worth Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh" As you shoot across the sky-y-y Baby, you're a firework Come on, let your colors burst Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh" You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe You don't have to feel like a waste of space You're original, cannot be replaced If you only knew what the future holds After a hurricane comes a rainbow Maybe your reason why all the doors are closed So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road Like a lightning bolt, your heart will glow And when it's time, you'll know You just got to ignite, the light, and let it shine Just own the night like the 4th of July 'Cause baby you're a firework Come on, show 'em what you're worth Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh" As you shoot across the sky-y-y Baby, you're a firework Come on, let your colors burst Make 'em go "Oh, Oh, Oh" You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe Boom, boom, boom Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon It's always been inside of you, you, you And now it's time to let it through-ough-ough 'Cause baby you're a firework Come on, show 'em what you're worth Make 'em go "Oh, Oh, Oh" As you shoot across the sky-y-y Baby, you're a firework Come on, let your colors burst Make 'em go "Oh, Oh, Oh" You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe Boom, boom, boom Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon Boom, boom, boom Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon I sat there staring at the empty seats in front of me imagining people sitting there, watching me. I began to feel butterflies in my stomach at the thought of all those people sitting there watching me sing. The bell rang signaling the end of my study hall so I put the guitar back and made my way to lunch. I walked to my usual table with Meagan and Sara and sat at the end of the table. Soon Meagan sat across from me and Sara sat on my right. “Are you excited to sing tonight?” Meagan asked. “Yea I’m really ecstatic to have my life end before the week will end” I replied in a fake sweet tone. People were piling inside the cafeteria and soon the whole cafeteria was filled with excited students talking about the talent show. Some people glanced at me whispering to their friends. “Hey Liz what song are you going to sing?” a girl named Hailey asked me. She’s another cheerleader but she isn’t a slut. She has pretty chocolate brown hair with light brown eyes and is about 5 ft 4 in tall. “I’m not going to tell anyone what song I’m going to sing, sorry. You will just have to find out at the talent show” I replied in a calm even voice, even though on the inside I was still freaking out about it. The next two classes were boring. People constantly asked me what I was going to be singing at the talent show or even if I really could sing. It gets really annoying. Sara and Meagan had already gone to the auditorium to get good seats. I walked up to the big brown two doors that led to the auditorium, took a deep breath to calm my nerves and walked in.
