I finished my meal, but before I could leave, Heather approached me again. She looked genuinely apologetic.

"I'm really sorry about what happened," she said. "And I feel super bad for you. We may be on different teams, but how about we form an alliance?"

I didn't hesitate to agree. After all, it was Sierra and Heather who enlightened me about Alejandro's betrayal. I was furious with him, but also slightly relieved that I now had support.

"You know what? Sure," I said, willing to give Heather a chance. "Let's work together."

With the competition heating up, I was determined to win.

Suddenly, Chris announced a new challenge. It was a challenge that had to do with a zip line across the jungle. Except in the jungle, the trees were so high that you could knock right into them while on the zip line and there were rabid monkeys all over them, waiting to pounce on you.

I felt myself shaking as the others on my team went on the zip line. I didn't wanna do this, until I felt a hand on my waist. "It's okay.", his voice, lingering in my ears. "You can do this."

I hated to admit it, but my worries washed away as soon as I heard him reassure me.

I got on the zip line, and everything went so fast. The wind blew all over the place, and a few trees brushed against my skin.

Thwack!

That was the sound of a prickly branch, hitting my skin and leaving a huge cut. I was distracted by the pain, and fell to the ground, when I should've been prepared to jump off. My arm was stinging from the impact of the fall and the dirt getting in my wound. I felt tears streaming down my face.

My teammates all gathered around me, and Tyler was holding me and assuring me it's okay and trying his best to comfort me, while the others were looking for something to aid my pain.

Another teammate landed. Alejandro.

He jumped down, rushing towards me and pushed Tyler off me.

"What happened? Are you okay?" he said, but before I could even utter a word, he ripped off a piece of cloth from his shirt and wrapped it around my wound.

"You'll be okay. I promise you will.", he said, brushing the hair off my face and wiping my tears off.

Just as I was losing consciousness, Alejandro carried me to the mansion on his back. I awoke to find myself on a couch surrounded by my teammates and others, who were all looking at me with concern on their faces. Heather was standing next to Alejandro, looking at me with a mix of worry and guilt on her face.

"I'm so glad you're okay," Alejandro said softly, stroking my hair. I felt my heart race at the touch of his hand, and suddenly all the anger and rage I had felt towards him just moments before vanished.

"Thank you," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

Noah stepped forward and cleared his throat. "We have to come up with a game plan for this challenge," he said, his voice determined. "Let's brainstorm."

Everyone started to throw out ideas, and I found myself listening intently, feeling like I was part of the team again. I looked over at Alejandro, who was silently observing the conversation with a slight smile on his face. I felt my heart fluttering, and I realized that maybe there was more to him than I had originally thought.

The sun was setting as I sat outside, watching the night sky turn into a blanket of stars. My thoughts drifted back to the challenge earlier, and how Alejandro had saved my life. Despite what he had done to me, I felt drawn to him. It was a strange feeling, and one that I couldn't quite explain. But I knew that he had my back, and that was enough for me.

Chris called off challenges for the next 2 days, rambling about how some dumb law firm is warning him about "legal consequences". I ignored him, and tried to fall back asleep.

As I sat there, lost in my thoughts, I heard footsteps approaching me from behind. I turned to see Alejandro approaching me, carrying two cups of coffee. "I thought you might like to share," he said, handing me one of the cups.

"Thanks," I replied, taking the cup and taking a sip. It was rich and creamy, just the way I liked it. We sat in silence for a few moments, enjoying the silence before Alejandro spoke up again.

"You know, I'm not proud of who you may think I am," he said, his voice low. "But I swear to you, Y/N, I will prove to you that I am not the person they say I am. I won't let you down. I swear."

I looked up at him, feeling my heart pound harder. "I believe you," I said, taking another sip of my coffee. "But you have to understand that this is going to take time."

Alejandro nodded. "I understand," he said. "I just want you to know that I'm here for you, no matter what."

I smiled at him, feeling my heart skip a beat. "I know. And I'm here for you too."

We sat there in silence for a few moments, taking in the peaceful atmosphere around us. Alejandro was still nursing his cup of coffee, while I had already finished mine. I felt a sense of comfort in his presence, like I could let my guard down and be myself around him.

"What made you want to go on this show?" I finally asked, breaking the silence. "I mean, with all the danger and competition, it seems like a pretty crazy thing to do."

Alejandro took a sip of his coffee before answering. "It's complicated," he said. "I guess I just wanted to prove myself. To show the world that I'm not the person everyone thinks I am."

"And who do you want to be?" I asked softly.

Alejandro hesitated for a moment before answering. "I want to be my own person," he said. "Not just someone who's defined by my past or my family. I want to be someone who people can rely on, who they can trust."

His words surprised me; I hadn't expected him to open up to me like this. But as he spoke, I couldn't help but feel a sense of love for him.

"I want to be there for you," I said, placing a hand on his arm. "No matter what happens, I'll always be here for you."

Alejandro looked at me, his eyes shining with emotion. "Thank you," he said. "That means more to me than you could ever know."
