Serin sat nervously in his bathroom, applying a bit of blush to his freckled cheeks. His roommates worked late and he was excited to get some alone time with his boyfriend of these years. His boyfriend had been busy and a bit distant the past few months so he hoped that they could go on a date and enjoy having the apartment to himself.
He looked over his face, the pink eyeshadow bringing out his sapphire blue eyes. He tinkered with his hair until every crimson curl was in place. The two planned to watch the barbie movie together so he tried to dress for the occasion. He knew that sometimes his boyfriend Marcus disapproved how out there his fashion choices were but this was an excuse because everyone dressed up to see the film.
He didn't want to wear anything too crazy at fear of being judged by Marcus or his friends. He wore a simple black skirt and a Barbie pink blouse. To add more flare to the outfit he wore pink and black thigh high socks to give a cute look. He wore a simple pair of Mary Jane's to finish off the outfit.
Serin often looked over his outfits with such scrutiny, wanting every aspect of.his clothing to look perfect. He expressed himself through clothes and wanted someone especially Marcus to see him as pretty.
His smile softened as he was brought back to how he and Marcus met. The two were childhood friends who reconnected at sixteen when they both joined the restaurant industry. He worked as a host while Marcus was the head chef. The fancy restaurant they worked at was very demanding but the pay was good and they were supportive of him. He met his closest friends there and wouldn't change it for the world.
Marcus was the first to greet him and invited him to dinner. The night ended with them both back at his place where they spent the night talking and watching memes till morning. Things were a lot sweeter back then and Serin would give anything to have that back again.
Now his boyfriend seemed distant, working more hours and spending less time with Serin. Once Marcus would look at Serin like he hung the koon now hos glances were brief. Their intimacy felt hollow if not existent and there was little to no aftercare or foreplay. Serin fought for his relationship to work and didn't understand where everything went wrong.
He hoped tonight was an olive branch, a way to figure things out. Just as he got his hopes up a text came in from Marcus. Once again the man decided to set up plans only to cancel last minute. His heart ached at that and he didn't even bother to respond like he normally would. Instead he put the phone back on charge and walked back into his room.
He almost tripped over the new carpet that he got from a friend. He always liked witchy themed things and they bought the carpet from some occult shop that had some form of summoning circle. He didn't really believe it would work but it looked cute with the rest of his decor.
He slumped down in his bed not even bothering to take the makeup off. He felt so defeated by this point and couldn't hold back the tears that formed in his eyes. He hasn't even been on a proper date with Marcus for months and honestly he didn't know what to do. Part of him blamed himself for this, wondering if he wasn't good enough. He figured he would decide in the morning for now he just wanted to rest. The room filled with his quiet sobs until he fell asleep.
