Four and a half weeks left...where does the time go? I know I have written this before, and trust me, I'll be writing it again in the next chapter or the next, but I am constantly asking myself this question. Time is such a curious thing; merely a concept created by humans, but an endless, constant, curious thing. I would much rather do without it. Things would be so much easier without the clocks ticking ceaselessly while days are turning into weeks, into years, into decades, into centuries, and so on. I will never understand time, but that's okay. We aren't supposed to understand everything. If we did, life would be so very boring.
It seems like I've been gone forever, but this whole year has slipped between my fingers. Every Friday I look back and think that just five seconds ago, it was Monday morning. I honestly just can't believe it. I can't believe it's already July. I can't believe that my eighth grade year is almost over and I'll be going to high school in little over two months. I can't believe anything. Life is a crazy, but wonderful, mess.
Everyone already has summer break in Spokane, but I have school until July 29th. On August 6th, I fly home with Lea. I flew to Germany on September 6th, 2014, and I'll be flying home exactly eleven months later, almost a whole year. It'll be weird to think back to the person I was before I stepped on the plane to start my adventure, and the person I'll be when I step from my plane back home. I have changed a lot and learned so much this year, in many different ways.
We already have so many things planned to do with Lea during the time she's with us including eating s'mores and playing spoons at the lake cabin. I wonder what she'll think of Spokane and the U.S. in general. I'm sure she'll like it and those three weeks will be so much fun for everyone. For me, it'll be super weird to finally be home after all the time being away, but I'll get used to it.
Last night, Steffi, Lea, and I were sitting outside talking until 1:00am. It was really nice, actually, to sit there in the moonlight among the chirping crickets. It was the perfect temperature as well, finally cooling off from the hot day. It's warmed up here a lot lately, which makes me super happy, although that means all the more sweating. We've gone to the pool three days in a row which has been much needed. I hope the weather stays this nice, and so far it looks like it will.
Yesterday was the Fourth of July which I was sad to miss out on, but it was okay. Plus, there'll be many more to celebrate in the future. I have three and a half weeks of school left and then (finally) summer break! My adventure is nearing to an end so I'm trying to live every last second in Germany as much as I can. It's all gone by in a blur but this year has definitely been a great experience, and I have four and a half weeks to make it even greater.
