She couldn't think. It was just a flood of emotions overtaking her mind.
Despair turned to anger. Anger shifted to sadness. Sadness changed to regret. Regret faded to acceptance.
Forget the five stages of grief. This is the five stages of going-to-be-stuck-with-your-ex-for-a-month.
"That's pretty much it. We can start packing now." Jimin's voice rang out.
Everyone else in the room stood up and that was when Minji relaxed. Only then did she realize she was death gripping her chair. The leather was left indented with her nails.
Whoops. Hope unnie won't mind that.
They followed Minjeong to a separate room in the basement. She entered a keycode on the padlock and the door opened with a satisfying hum.
Inside was possibly the most decked-out armoury you will ever see. The room wasn't by any means giant, but the sheer number of weapons in one room definitely made up for it.
On the walls were rows of firearms arranged neatly and sorted into groups. One wall contained handguns and another contained rifles and submachine guns. Melee weapons like knives and knuckles were stored in glass cabinets and Minjeong's prized katana was in its own display case. A counter in the centre of the room held stacks of ammunition.
Each person had one of Minji's bags in their hands.
Every split up and began packing what they needed for the mission.
Minji went to where all the rifles were. The length of the wall was filled with an assortment of all sorts. Off the top of your head, any gun, Minjeong probably had it stored somewhere. She let out a whistle, "Damn armamenter, you've been stocking up on more since the last time we saw."
Minjeong shrugged, "Just in case, you know." She turned back to the pistols she was looking at.
Minji picked up a rifle. Inspecting it, she noted its properties, "MPX Carbine with a holo sight, +11 base pad, adjustable stock." A hum resonated from her throat. Dealing with guns was something she was familiar with. It took her mind off things. Things like her ex who she would be meeting in a day.
Exhale.
Raising the submachine gun to sit on her shoulder, she tried the weight of the weapon. The grip fit perfectly into her hands and Minji found it easy to use. She continued testing it by dry firing and practicing loading and unloading.
Finally satisfied, Minji took the rifle apart and put it in her duffle bag. She grabbed a few more items from the walls and cabinets; an AR-15 rifle, a combat knife, and throwing knives.
When Minji was finished choosing her guns, she deposited her duffle bag onto the centre counter and started going through the shelves of weapon accessories and ammo. Haerin joined her and struck up a conversation between them.
"You seem down ever since you got the bags."
Minji shrugged, "Just tired."
The shorter girl narrowed her eyes at Minji but not as much with suspicion and more with concern. "I'll drop you off at home today."
Minji let out a small smile that she hoped didn't look too forced.
Once she deemed her packing was finished, she began looking through Minjeong's collections of armaments perhaps less practical, but equally as impressive. She playing with one of the concealable karambits when she heard Jimin calling for everyone to gather around.
"Hey Minji. Pep talk?" The oldest asked her.
Minji knew that she should take on her role as team leader more. She was shoving a lot of her responsibilities onto Jimin, and it was time that she fulfilled her duty.
