Nah. Hanni definitely still has an effect on her.
Last night, she had taken sleeping pills in fear of another restless 8 hours. God knows she needed that rest. The mission would also be happening the next day, and Minji would very much like every ounce of energy she could get.
It was six in the morning when the blaring noise of a generic alarm clock thundered throughout the room.
With a groan, Minji slapped an arm down onto her nightstand in search of her phone, turned off the alarm, and flipped 180 degrees on the bed. "Those sleeping pills worked better than I thought they would."
The comfiness of the bed invited Minji back into her slumber. "Forget about today. Just a few more minutes of sleep," it called to her.
It almost worked. And it would have if there was never a second alarm.
A few quiet, small, tiny beeps resonated around the room.
"Huh?"
Then what seemed at first like an explosion made Minji jump.
"Holy cra-"
Uahage
Realizing nobody had lobbed a grenade into her room, Minji collapsed face-first onto her bed. Minji had one hand over her heart as she once again reached for her phone-
Like swan swan swan
-and turned off the alarm.
"How come I don't remember setting a second one? Must have been crazy sleeping pills shenanigans."
Minji got up and opened the curtains. The sun was just peaking over the horizon and spilling its warm glow onto the surrounding land.
A now wide-awake Minji began her morning routine. Brushing her teeth and washing her face followed by a quick breakfast. Coffee was a single espresso and nothing as strong as any of her sleep-deprived days.
Moving to the living room, she found Shadow again occupying the couch. His eyes glimmered and he meowed in acknowledgement. Unlike last time, today he seemed to be more playful. He was toying around with a ball Minji had left on the coffee table. With how often Shadow visited, why not get him something?
From a closet nearby Minji grabbed a fitness mat and spread it on the floor beside Shadow. Minji did a light workout consisting of a bit of stretching and exercises to get her ready for the day.
A quick hot shower and Minji began her last check for anything else she might need to bring. Into a backpack, she threw in a couple of items. Her phone, chargers, energy bars, a couple of books, earbuds, and small everyday common things.
Before the others would arrive to pick her up she went upstairs one last time. In her bedroom she grabbed her watch off its charging stand and slapped it on her wrist. The holographic interface allowed her to change the colour of the watch to match her clothing. Minji settled with a silver frame right when a message notification popped up from Haerin.
"We're here."
Minji hurried a bit at this. With longer strides, she walked to her nightstand and reached into the top compartment. Inside was a classic Glock 19, perfect for concealed carry while still packing a good punch. Minji hastily grabbed a holster from inside and put in the gun.
A car horn sounded from outside and someone was knocking on the door.
"FBI, open up!"
Minji rushed down the stairs, skipping the last few steps and unlocked the door. "What can I help you with, kind person?"
