Arthur Leywin POV:

My eyes are still closed, but I'm awake.

I try moving my arms and legs a bit. Seems like I'm in a bed. My head and chest are throbbing a little bit, probably because that's where the mana beast cut me.

The mana beast? Tessia! We were almost at the gate! Is she okay?!

My eyes open, and I sit up. Looking around, the room I'm in is quite big, much bigger than my room back in Ashber. There doesn't seem to be much furniture, just this bed, a closet, 2 doors leading to the exit and a bathroom maybe, and a balcony.

I look down towards my chest and grab the shirt I'm wearing. It feels comfortable, I guess it's made using elven materials? Looks like someone healed me, even washed me, and then dressed me in this shirt and shorts.

Hmm...this underwear is comfy too.

I get off the bed, and stand on the floor barefoot. The floor is clean, and the stone it's made of is neither too hot nor too cold.

I need to find Tess, make sure she's okay, maybe she also has the egg that Sylvia gave me.

I go up to the door that I think leads out, and open it. Standing outside, close to the door, is an adult elf. He is wearing armor and holding a spear, so he must be a guard of some sort.

The elf guard narrows his eyes at me. I guess he doesn't like me already.

"So, you're awake, human boy. Their Royal Majesties are currently busy with their duties, so they intend to meet with you afterwards."

"Wait, you mean, your King and Queen wants to meet me? Why? Did they save me?"

"You...don't know?" The elf guard stares at me blankly. I stare back, confused.

"Anyways, once you meet with them, you will learn about everything. I have been instructed to escort you to the cafeteria for you to be fed after you wake up. The emitter that healed you predicted you would awaken this morning."

"Wait, how long have I been asleep?"

"Not long, you arrived here last night. I'm surprised it only took hours for your body to recover from a wound inflicted by a mana beast. Now, enough questions, follow me and eat."

I hurry after him. Can't he walk any bit slower? I just got hurt, and his legs are much longer than mine! Geez...

I guess I'm in the King and Queen's castle? This place does seem very big.

As I follow the guard, I pass by some servants who greet the guard. As their eyes land on me, they tense up. Most of them look away, but one of them stares as me with a chilling intensity. She's biting her lip, and her fists are clenched. I can tell she is angry at me, but why?

"You better watch out, human boy. People around here are still thinking about the war we had with the humans not too long ago. It's safe to assume that the maid who was looking at you lost family members to the war. I even know someone who ended up here working here after her home was completely destroyed."

"Oh, I see." I say while looking down.

"Hmpf! As if a child as young as you could understand. You are not even an elf, don't pretend to sympathize."

I stop. The guard notices, and looks back at me.

"What?"

"...I know I'm just a kid, and that I don't know very much. But at the very least, I know about the bad humans out there. I got hurt by them too! I am here because my family got attacked by bandits...I'm also sad and angry..."
