Dancing in purgatory...

< - >

THE LIGHT FROM THE CHANDELIER above the building danced a symphony of colors, casting intricate shadows that crawled along the walls and the floor, the woman's green hair flowed like a river of emerald silk as she stood atop the roof. She had styled it so neatly, not a strand was out of place. The wind played in her hair as it whipped around her, gently pushing the strands to and fro.

Overlooking the grand ballroom of the animal masquerade ball event which happened once a year. She took a deep breath, "Alright Yvette... You know what you gotta do..." Feeling the golden silk of her dress brush against her revealing legs, her golden topaz eyes peering out from behind the delicate lace deer mask as if they had been frozen in time unable to look away from the beauty that awaited her below.

The green-haired young woman prepared to leave the roof, she took a deep breath and reminded herself to keep a calm demeanor. She could not allow her emotions to cloud her judgment now. She leaped off the roof and landed with perfect grace, like a dancer in a ball.

As she approached the entrance, a registered man holding a file stopped her. "Please state your name," He said in a strict, yet gentle voice.

"Ninelie de Demetria," She responded in a soft tone, her emerald irises dancing beneath the mask, it was an illusion instead of her real iris color.

The registered man nodded, making a note on the file before handing it over to her. "Here's your ticket. Enjoy the ball, milady," He smiles with the tip of his hat before turning to the next guest awaiting his attention.

She walked into the bustling crowd of nobles, feeling her nerves start to settle as she saw the different masks that they were wearing. Some were more intricate and detailed than others, but all of them added to the grand appearance of the masquerade ball. She looked around, taking a moment to admire the stunning decorations that adorned the walls and the ceilings, as well as the beautiful dresses and suits that the other guests were wearing.

As she made her way through the crowd, she couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder at the mystery behind each of the animal masks that she saw. She watched as people danced and conversed, enjoying themselves and having a good time as if there were no problems in the world to worry about, but she tuned it all out as she searched for her target. She had a job to do, and she was determined to see it through to the end.

"What was the guy's animal mask again..." Yvette slipped through the crowded hall, her dress billowing out behind her like a cloud of silk. She caught a glimpse of her reflection on a polished surface, and her eyes gleamed with determination. She had a mission to complete, and she would not stop until it was done.
