FlashBack:

Hayley's POV

I'm prepping Hope's dinner: jarred carrots and chicken and gravy. I go to grab a baby spoon when I spot my five month old baby girl sitting up, staring out the window as rain falls from the sky. I smile and go pick her up to give her a better view. She giggles and claps her hands.
"It's raining." I say

She laughs.

I go grab the jar of carrots, deciding to just feed her on my lap when a piercing scream rings out. Startled, I drop the jar. It shatters leaving glass and mushed up carrots everywhere. Hope starts crying.

Another scream.

It's Lorelei.

That's a scream of pain, I realize.

Freya runs in.
"What's going on?" She asks
"It's Lorelei."
"She's not having another nightmare is she?" She asks

Ever since Lorelei got back she's been plagued with horrible nightmares. She won't talk about what it is she's seeing at night but I can tell it's bad.

"I don't know. Can you take Hope? I'm going to go check on her." I say

I turn to walk in the direction of her bedroom then turn back around to face Freya.

"Freya?"

She turns to look at me.

"Go in the nursery and put up a boundary spell. In case it is a nightmare. We don't want a repeat of last time." I say

Last time Lorelei had a nightmare, she woke up and started attacking not realizing who we were. Klaus had gone to comfort her and she attacked. Freya blew some sort of dust in Lorelei's face and she passed out. When she woke back up she had no idea what had happened.

I hear another scream and speed into her bedroom. She's covering her ears and crying in pain.

It's the storm.

Lorelei hadn't gotten used to the sensitivity of sound yet. Simple sounds like a faucet running sounds like a waterfall with vampire ears.

I rush over to her.

"Hey it's okay. It's alright." I say

She lets out a cry.

"What do I do?" She asks "Its deafening."

I grab my phone and call Klaus.

"Klaus you need to come home." I say
"What's going on?" He asks worried
"There's a thunderstorm and Lorelei is struggling. It's too much for her." I say
"I'm on my way." He says and hangs up

Vampires and hybrids alike get used to how powerful every sound is but she doesn't have time right now.

Minutes later Klaus shows up. He rushes over to Lorelei.
"It's okay love. It'll pass." He says

I check my phone.

I clear my throat and he looks up at me from where he's crouched next to her. I shake my head. He closes his eyes for a moment and sighs, unsure what to do.

She lets out another cry of pain and I can see Klaus's heart break.

I struggle not to turn away.

It's rough to see.

I have to walk away. I turn and leave the room to give them some privacy.

Klaus POV:

"Look at me love." I coax

Her eyes meet mine.

I wait a moment before speaking.

I never wanted to have to do this to her, but I want it to be her choice.

"I can compel you to sleep. You'll fall asleep and when you wake up, the storm will be over."

I expect her to ask for another solution, or to say no.

"Do it." She says

I sit there, stunned.

"Do it." She repeats

I tilt her chin up so our eyes meet and I focus.

"You're going to fall asleep until the storm passes and when you wake, you're going to feel better." I say

Her eyes close and she starts snoring. I move the blankets on the bed, pick her up and lay her down. I tuck her in them close the door and head for the kitchen.

Hayley is cleaning up the mess in the kitchen as Freya walks in with Hope.

"Is she okay?" Freya asks
"It's the thunderstorm. It's too loud. I put her to sleep." I say not wanting to discuss the details

Hayley knows. There's no way she didn't hear the conversation but she doesn't say anything. She finishes disposing glass and baby food and holds out her hands for Hope.

The next morning I'm sitting on the bed with a blood bag waiting for Lorelei to wake up.

"Hey." She says softly from under the blankets.
"Good morning love." I say and hand her the blood bag

I wait for her to finish draining the bag then speak.
" I need to talk to you about last night."

She looks at me but doesn't say anything.
"I will only compel you if necessary. You have my word." I say

Like my siblings, I do not give my word lightly, which she knows. She nods.

"I understand. I need to go talk to Hayley." She says

Lorelei POV:

I head to the kitchen where I find Hayley feed I got Hope apples and she eats a blueberry bagel coated in cream cheese.
"Hayley I'm so sorry about last night. I know that wasn't easy and I'm so sorry if I scared Hope."

She turns to face me.

"It's okay. It takes awhile to get the hang of it. We're all okay. You don't need to be sorry. I didn't have the best time transitioning either." She says

"Want to hang out at the bayou later?" I ask with a small smile
"Only if we get drinks after." She says with a grin
"Deal."
