Hayley snatches the arrows out of the air one after another, moments before they would've hit her. I stand there about 60 feet away with the crossbow, looking impressed.

She walks over and trades places with me. I go stand where she had.

Without warning she fires an arrow. I grab it quickly, a few feet away.

"Let it get closer." She coaches

She shoots another and instead of trying to grab it from the side, I somehow end up trying to grab it with my palm and it goes right through my fucking hand.

"Shit!" I tell

Hayley speeds over and tells me to take a deep breath. Before I can finish exhaling she grips it and yanks the arrow out, completely intact.

She looks from the arrow to me.

"Pro: as a hybrid you'll heal twice as fast ...but who in their right mind tries to catch an arrow with the palm of their hand?" She asks with a laugh

"I'm never going to hear the end of this." I mutter shaking my head.

"Con of being a hybrid, I get to give you shit on this for the rest of time." She says

"Ugh stake me now." I say

She returns to the hill and fires the arrow that isn't covered in my blood. This time I catch it 6 inches before it would've ended up between my eyes.

We go a couple more rounds then Hayley looks at the sky.

Sun is setting.

"Let's head home. I need to shower and put Hope to bed." She says

She heads out to the compound and I head out to my favorite alley near the bar to feed. I let her know before we split up that I'll be heading home as soon as I'm done.

It takes a few tries but I eventually find the perfect person. A tall athletic man stumbles out of the bar and into the alleyway to have a cigarette. He walks over to me asking if I have a light and a pole lighter out of my pocket. I compel him and go about the process as I have always done. Compel, feed, heal, erase.

I watch as the mark on his neck heels and he walks away. I turn to head towards the compound when I feel something grab my head and twist and everything goes black.

Hayley's POV:

I walk through the gates into the foyer of the compound. I find hope in the kitchen with Klaus setting the table. There's candles, Chinese food, and music playing. From the saxophone I can tell that it's jazz.

You can't live in New Orleans and not hear jazz.

I wrap Hope up in a tight hug.
"What's all this?" I ask

She puts a finger to her lips.
"It's a secret." She whispers
"Thank you for telling me. I won't say anything." I whisper back

Our six year old daughter's eyes light up and she smiles.

Then she turns to Klaus.

"Hey dad can I go practice magic in my room?"
"Small spells only love and make sure to put your bracelet on when you're done." Klaus says with a smile

She nods then takes off to her room.

Back when Hope was a baby we gave her a bracelet that was infused with dark magic that would block her from doing any magic. It was a way to protect her and keep others from tracking her. Now we use it as a way to kind of help her keep control.

Klaus goes over and pours two drinks and hands me one.

"How was training?" He asks and takes a sip

"Well other than her ending up with an arrow in her hand she did pretty good. She's improving a lot."

He chuckles a little bit.

"An arrow in her hand? Yeah I'd say that's an improvement." He says

"Fight training is gonna be interesting for sure."

"Where is she now?"
"She's off feeding and then she said she'd be home. I'm gonna go hop in the shower."

I finished my drink and head for the shower.

Klaus POV:

20 minutes later I look towards the entrance to the compound and nothing.

That's odd she should be back by now.

I find Hayley in Hope's room, helping her put away her Grimoires and then tucking her into bed.

"Maybe we can play hide and seek tomorrow?" Hope asks
"That sounds awesome. I love you." Hayley says and gives her a kiss on the forehead
"I love you too. Always and Forever." She says with a sleepy smile

Hayley walks out of the room and waits by the door while I give our daughter a hug and kiss then turn and leave.

Hayley closes Hope's door and we walk away so Hope can't hear our conversation.

"Something's wrong." I say
"She's not back yet?" Hayley asks

I shake my head.

I head to the study to find Freya. She's in there skimming through Grimoires.

"What is it brother?" She asks, not looking up
"Lorelei hasn't returned home." I say
"You're being paranoid again." She replies
"Can you do a locator spell?" Hayley asks walking in

Freya clears off the table then disappears and returns with a vial of Lorelei's blood.

She snaps her fingers and all the candles in the room ignite. Then she pours the blood on the map and whispers the inchantment.

Nothing happens.

Freya lets out a frustrated sigh.

"It didn't work, which means she's either cloaked..."She trails off not wanting to finish the thought.

Or dead.

"I'll do an astral projection and see what I can find."

Freya's POV:

I'm in the alley near Rousseau's where the Lorelei tends to hunt. There's nothing. Then I catch some thing out of the corner of my eye to the right. I turn.

There on the wall written in blood is a message.

Bring me Klaus by midnight or she dies.
We'll see who the true Alpha male is.
