"Didn't you flash your green eyes at me!"
Hannah and I scream as she drives us to her house. I'm so excited to see her new puppy she told me about, apparently she named it August, the month she got it. "We found Wonderland and you and I got lost in it!" We cheered as she pulled into her driveway. One thing about the Burns family, they were filthy rich, and nobody told me until the sixth grade.I met Hannah Burns as a toddler when I went to Disneyland, we became best friends and thought we'd never see each other again. Then we met again in Elementary, and she made me make 'The Promise' at the end of Elementary, right before middle school. 'The Promise' was a Promise I'd made to never like her brother, as she'd be extremely uncomfortable and weirded out by it. I never knew why, until I met her brother, and not only was he hot, but he was totally off limits! I only made that promise because I thought her brother was going to be some nerd!
"Hey Li." Matt muttered, hopping into his sleek black car and driving off. That was our relationship for the last three or four years, was just hellos and slight chatter. "I'll help you with your bags." Hannah said as she hopped out of her car, grabbing one of my light pink bags. I brought two, one of makeup, one of clothes and jewelry. "Thanks Han." I said, grabbing my other bag and closing the trunk. "Race you to my room?" Hannah challenged, and I smiled. "Bet." I said before taking off into the very big building, right up the brown stairs and down the left hall, into a pink painted door with Hannah's name on it in silver glitter. "This is why you wear tenni-shoes." I said, flopping onto her bed as she raced in behind me. "Dammit! I forgot your on the track team, no fair." Hannah panted, laying down on the floor while I laughed. Track became apart of my life when I was in middle school, and my parents forced me to pick a sport. I didn't like having to learn something new, so I picked track and made a couple boyfriends and friends from it, and really enjoyed it, It let my mind roam and nobody could catch up to me to talk to me or disturb me.
"What do you wanna do?" Hannah said, her blonde hair sprawled about the floor. "Wanna get ready for JJ's party early?" I suggested, rolling over to look at her, my black hair falling to the other side and then in my face, and I swat it away swiftly. "Sure." She shrugged, getting up from the floor, and tying her hair into a ponytail. "I brought a shirt and some ripped jeans, I don't think I'll do much makeup because I'm just going to wake up drunk anyways." I said, grabbing one of my bags and opening it, pulling out two shirts and two pants, putting everything else back. "Okay, well I'm definitely going to do my makeup because it's fun."
Hannah said, smiling as she pulled mascara, foundation, and other products out of her bag. I turned around, and stripped myself of my shirt, putting on a light blue one with black striped sleeves, Then, I took off my jean shorts, and switched them for black ripped jeans. I left my vans on because I didn't bring any other shoes. "Okay, I'm almost ready, you?" I asked, and Hannah nodded, focused into doing her eye-shadow. I nodded, and looked around her room, "I'm gonna go get some water." I told her before leaving her room, letting my hand follow the white paint of the dark hallway. As I got downstairs, I spotted Matt, sitting on the couch watching some sort of Crime Documentary. "Are you going to JJ's party tonight?" I asked swiftly, grabbing a glass and filling it with ice. "Yeah, I'm the DD for you guys," He said, looking at me over the back of the couch. "DD? Your not going to drink?" I asked, walking over and sitting on the couch with him, taking a sip of my water. "Nah, I've got my first criminal Justice test tomorrow, so I shouldn't anyways." He said, grabbing my water and drinking from it. "That's mine!" I laughed shortly, waiting for him to give it back. "Is it?" He smiled, giving it back. "Nah I'm kidding, I only wanted a sip." He shrugged.
I laid back, and crossed my legs. "I thought you wanted to be an officer?" I asked, glancing at him. " I do, Criminal Justice isn't just for lawyers ya know." He said, laughing at some lady with big earrings on the TV. "Oh." I said, a slight flush coming to my face as I had not known It wasn't just for lawyers. "Liana!" I heard Hannah call as she came downstairs. "Hm?" I asked, looking at her. "I'm bored again." She sighed, walking downstairs and shoving Matt over to sit next to me. "We could always go for a walk, or watch a movie." I Suggested, holding her cold hand with my warm one. "That's a great idea, we should watch that new Netflix movie with Adam Sandlers daughters." Hannha chirped, taking the remote from Matt and handing it to me.
"I'll get snacks." She said, walking into the kitchen as I changed the TV, with only a few grunts or moans from Matt. "Isn't that movie about like eighth graders or something?" Matt shook his head, stealing my water again. "It's supposedly decent, according to your mom." Liana shrugged. Matt shook his head, and scooted towards me to make room for Hannah, who didn't seem to mind she wasn't sitting next to me this time. Sitting near Matt made me feel nervous, like I was breaking the rule right in front of Hannah, but I also got major butterflies.
I know I sound like a child, but it's better to be delulu than a negative person.
The movie started, and I kept glancing at Matt, admiring his eyes and his cheekbones. He caught me staring, and I turned my eyes back to the TV with red on my face. "Don't break the rule." He whispered to me, and I tried not to laugh, I hadn't thought he remembered it. The movie went on, and I zoned out, listening to Matt's deep breaths. It was calming, but I still felt guilt sting my chest.
And then it was show time.
