Moving across the country hit Luke hard and his best friend Calum knows it. In an effort to try to get Luke a little more acclimated to the move, he nudges Luke to join a social group to make some friends. Specifically, it is a social group for autistic adults. While Calum knows that Luke is fully capable of making friends regardless of the fact if they're autistic like him or not, he needs to start somewhere.
Luke has no desire to go, but he knows that Calum is just trying to help. So he goes, but intends to only go to the trial days that they were offered. Ultimately, he ends up enjoying it, but not even because of the other people signed up for the program. He likes it because of Ellie, the girl who chaperones the group.
Everytime that he goes, he sticks with her. She doesn't mind much either as Luke is great company.
Soon enough they're falling for each other and getting themselves in situations that they never thought they'd ever find themselves in.
It is the the best thing.
