ONE HOUR UNTIL DAWN
JOSH - MINES 06:10
Slowly coming too, I groaned as I woke up. Everything around me was a blurry mess, leaving me wondering where the hell I was. Pushing myself up, I could make out...s-singing?
"Frere Jacques, Frere Jacques. Dormez vous?" Despite how foggy my memory had been, I recognized Hannah's voice.
"No... No no no." I whimpered, backing into a corner, hearing them continue to sing. "No, no stay away... stay away!" I yelled, curling up. Over the past year I kept having these bad instances where I could hear them, see them, they were everywhere. Jack told me it was all in my head, schizophrenia, b-but that just made it worse!
"Get away!" I forced myself to stand, nearly falling over due to my injured leg, "Get away! G-Get away from me!". Putting my hands over my ears, I tried my best to block them out, "You're dead! Leave me alone! Y-You can't hurt me, you're not real! You're not real! N-No, you're not real! YOU AREN'T REAL! Leave me alone!".
I dropped to the ground, rocking back and forth as I screamed, "LEAVE ME ALONE!".
BETH 6:00
The three of us made our ways through the mines, a chill running through my bones as we walked through the mines. "The sooner we find Josh and get out of here the better..." I muttered, rubbing my arms through the flannel. Despite everything, I managed to keep this old thing on me. When we got the hell out of here, I intended to give it back to him.
"Hey, don't let your guard down. The wendigo will strike at the first sign of weakness. You'll be lucky if those monsters make it fast." Jack stated.
"It's hard to believe those things used to be people." Sam muttered, looking at the shovel in her hands, deep in thought. The second we found Josh, I had to talk to her. So much had happened to everyone. '"Maybe a miner or someone that worked at the sanatorium. God... so many people got trapped here... So much weird shit has happened on these mountains, I can't believe your parents built something here.".
"Ugh, no kidding." I groaned.
Jack led the way, stopping suddenly in front of some water. "It's nest is that way, you two go ahead, I'll cover ya. I can't get in the water with my tank." Jack explained, gesturing to the flamethrower.
Fine, guess it was just us. "Here goes." I grimaced, climbing into the water, gasping at how cold it was.
"I can't feel my fingers!" Sam gasped, following me through the frigid waters.
The two of us made it through the water, both of us trembling from the absolute cold. "Oh my god, it's so cold..." I shuddered, yelping as I almost fell from how it suddenly got deep. If we survived until dawn, it'd honestly be a miracle if we all didn't die of the cold.
Forcing ourselves through the water, we eventually made it to the end. "Oh thank god..." Sam gasped, rubbing her arms as she approached the door. "Ready?" She asked.
"Not at all."
Giving a nod, Sam forced open the door. The two of us screamed as we were knocked down by a sudden burst of water, my heart racing expecting something to come out. But there was nothing. "Okay, we're still in the clear." I gasped, looking at Sam, "Let's keep moving.". The two of us headed in, not knowing something was watching us.
Getting back up, the two of us ventured deeper into the mines. "Wait, I hear something." Sam walked over to the planks covering the wall, peering through the gaps. Raising a brow, I walked over to join her, gasping. "Josh?"
"Get away! Get away! G-Get away from me!" Josh yelled, looking at something that wasn't there.
"Oh no." I gasped, "Josh!". Pushing the door open, I hurried over to him, my heart aching hearing him rambling.
