Chapter 12: Interview

BETH

"I-I don't know how to describe him. I mean we... We all thought he killed Josh and Hannah, but he saved him." Beth was struggling to come up with the words, shaking her head lightly, "That crazy bastard saved my brother. I will never forget that.".

"You said you thought he was stalking you at first-" The officer began, "Did anyone else in your group think that?".

An exasperated laugh left Beth, "Yeah. Chris. He made all these signs to convince me that Jack was wanted for killing my siblings. I... I thought I could trust him. That we felt each other's pain after losing Josh and Hannah.". She let out a sigh, looking down, "I was so wrong."

JOSH

"Are you sure he didn't kidnap you? There's so much mystery about-"

"N-No... No." Josh frantically shook his head, "J-Jack saved me. After the fall, he saved me and made sure I lived. And when it took me, he saved me... I had to watch him die.".

"Can you be certain he was protecting you?"

"I know what I went through..!"

JESSICA

Jessica shook her head, sniffling lightly, "I know I heard Mike down in the mines. I-I don't know if it was him or that thing, but it sounded just like him! I should've gone back for him. But I was too scared...".

EMILY

Sitting in the interview room was mortifying with the state she was in, Emily was unable to even look at the camera. "Chris... he was so mad after what happened to Josh and Hannah. He wanted to make it even... I-I mean we sent them out there to die..! All because I didn't like that she was looking at my boyfriend...!" The girl's shoulders shook as she broke into a sob, hiding her face in her hands.

"Is that why you all thought he killed Michael?" The officer asked.

"I don't know... I don't know..."

CHRIS

"What were you hoping to achieve with all of this?"

Chris let out a shaky breath, shaking his head as he bit his lip. "I... I don't know. I was so mad at all of them. They're 'prank' sent Josh and Hannah running into the fucking mountains! We thought they died! I just wanted them to feel how they felt. Scared, alone, humiliated.".

"Did you get what you wanted?"

"I never wanted this... " Chris grimaced, "I never wanted it to get this bad. It all got out of hand even before the monsters showed up.".

MATT

"Where's Emily?" Matt demanded.

"Mr. Taylor, I promise once you finish answering our questions-"

"I need to see her! She's scared shitless. This whole stupid revenge plot has left her h-humilated and scared!" Matt shook his head furiously, "I should've stayed closer to her. Instead I wandered off, I was so focused on finding Sam and getting us all out. I was right there and I could've done something. I tried to do something. I wasn't good enough."

MIKE

"How did you end up in the mines?"

It took Mike a moment to process the officer's words, shaking his head as he tried to think of a response. Holding the blanket closer to his body, he looked at the man, "I was... dragged and... taken... and..."

"What did you see?"

"I don't fucking know... I... I don't know."
