THE NEXT DAY, vanessa found herself thinking that getting back with blaise might actually be a good idea. she needed a distraction from the constant tension with people like mattheo, and blaise was actually quite good for that.

after a dull morning class, her and izzy headed to the great hall for lunch. they chatted about recent events, their laughter blending with the noise of the bustling corridor. but as they stepped into the great hall, vanessa stopped dead in her tracks.

there he was. blaise zabini, sitting at the slytherin table, making out with a blonde girl.

vanessa's heart dropped, the scene in front of her hitting her like a punch to her face. she felt a mix of shock, hurt, and disbelief. just last night, they had shared an intimate moment, a kiss. and now he was with someone else already and didn't even bother to hide it.

she couldn't tear her eyes away from the sight. blaise's hand was tangled in the girl's hair, his other hand resting possessively on her waist. the blonde was practically sitting on his lap, their kiss deep and passionate. vanessa felt a knot of anger and betrayal tighten in her stomach. how could he move on so quickly? how could he do this to her?

"nessa, what's wrong?" izzy asked, her voice cutting through vanessa's thoughts. she followed her friend's gaze and sighed. "oh. blaise is such a jerk. just ignore him."

but vanessa couldn't just ignore it. she hated how much it hurt. she had trusted blaise, opened up to him, and now he was betraying her in the most blatant way. her mind raced with a mix of emotions: anger, betrayal.

she watched as blaise looked up and their eyes met, his smile fading when he saw her.

without a word, vanessa turned around and she stormed out of the great hall. she didn't want to be anywhere near him, but behind her, she heard him calling her name and his footsteps quickening to catch up.

"vanessa, wait!"

she stopped and turned around, her eyes cold as ice. before he could say anything else, she spat in his face. blaise stepped back, shock written all over his features.

"vanessa, what the hell?"

"go fuck yourself, blaise. i actually trusted you with what you said yesterday," she said, her voice low and seething with anger.

"i'm sorry," he stammered, wiping his face. "i didn't mean — "

"you didn't mean what?" she cut him off, her voice sharp. "didn't mean to be a complete asshole? didn't mean to betray me less than a day after you said you missed me and begged me to get back together?"

"i thought we were casual," blaise defended himself, looking desperate. "i didn't think i had to be that loyal to you."

vanessa let out a bitter laugh. "casual? you couldn't even wait one fucking day. if you don't want me don't act like you fucking want me."

"baby, i didn't want to hurt you," blaise pleaded, his tone softer, trying to reach her.

"don't call me baby," she snapped. "you never think, blaise. you always just do whatever you want without considering anyone else. that's why we never worked."

"i'm sorry, vanessa. i — "

"no," she interrupted, holding up her hand. "i'm done with your apologies. you showed me exactly who you are, and i can't believe i almost fell for it again."

blaise looked genuinely hurt, but vanessa couldn't care less. "i never meant to hurt you. i just thought — "

"you just thought what?" she cut him off again. "that i'd be okay with this? that i'd be fine seeing you with someone else right after we kissed? you don't think, blaise. you never have."
