Himiko smiled at her father softly, bouncing on her toes as she put her hands in her pockets.
"Papa I-" she wasn't stupid, she knew he was upset and she knew why, she was just hoping that she could bat her eyes and he would forget, but when she saw him tearing up, she realized she had upset him more than she thought.
"What is wrong with-'' Deku shook his head, stopping himself "S-sorry." He rubbed the back of his head and laughed at the ground he had watched footage of Allmight as a kid, but that was before he met Allmight, and he wasn't watching Allmight get the shit kicked out of him.
"Where did you get that footage? Because I'm getting it taken down." he shook his head and sighed, it was quite possible his daughter was a monster.
"I don't understand why you're so upset I-"
"You don't understand why I'm upset?" Deku laughed, shaking his head "You don't-" He doubled over, laughing for a second longer
"Yeah. Why would I be upset that my little girl is watching the video of her mother's death over and over again?" Deku whimpered, shaking his head and letting himself into her room, sitting on her bed and holding his head in his hands. He sighed, looking up at her with tear marks on his face
"She didn't die. She's literally in the kitchen right now." Himiko sighed
Deku shook his head "no. Himiko. I watched my wife die. I watched Ochaco die. A-and I had to wait until the fighting was done to know that she had been brought back. I spent days thinking I was losing my quirk, and that I had just become a single father."
Himiko slipped her arms around him and was relieved when he hugged her tightly, kissing her head.
"I-I thought that the love of my life was dead. I felt like my heart was ripped out of my chest."
Himiko frowned, his grip was tightening on her, she cried in pain, although he actually wasn't hurting her like he used to when his panic attacks hit. Kaz was taking everything from him, and they really had no idea what would happen once one for all left Deku completely. She didn't like to think about it, but she knew a day would come where it would be impossible to ignore. Deku let go of her, hugging himself and trembling
"B-but if that didn't happen. You never would have been born." he sighed, "s-so in some ways, in some ways, it was a-" he couldn't make himself finish that sentence. He loved his daughter, but watching his wife fall from the sky bleeding from multiple stab wounds would never be a pleasant memory. "I love you baby, a-and I-I think I understand why you watch the footage, b-but please never ever watch that fucking video under my roof again. Your mother lives here."
She nodded her head sadly. "Yes papa."
"Promise me?"
"Yes."
He nodded, he wished he believed her.
"Have you figured out what went wrong yet?" he murmured
"No.. She-she did everything right. I think she was just weaker from having Kaz, and I've heard people say she was pregnant with-"
"No. You were born a year after that incident, almost to the day." Deku blushed "And pregnancy doesn't seem to affect zero gravity quirks. Himiko. The problem was, your mom's quirk just wasn't strong enough to fight that villain.""But that can't be-"
"I know it sucks, Himiko. But it's true. And when you start taking your entrance exams, I would really like for you to take that into consideration." He could see in her eyes that she wanted to say something, but she stopped herself, he sighed
