Version 1
"Wish I had powers," said Aramis.
He was a scrawny kid but had some muscle. His hair was short and green, and his eyes were a light green color.
"Everyone has some superpower or special ability."
He thought of the many types of super-powered beings he's heard of. Some could shoot flames from their firsts, some could transform into animals, and others' talents are increased ten times their normal strengths.
"Why did I have to be one of the rare ones without these gifts?" he asked himself. "Do the greater powers above deem me unworthy?"
These questions bring about recent memories Aramis had.
A few days ago, while Aramis performed a few situps, he overheard a conversation between two kids around his age.
"Are you serious?" he heard one of them say.
"Yeah, apparently, the kid at the nearby village was a late bloomer," the other one replied. "He has incredible wind powers."
Aramis sighed, feeling down after what he heard. Looking towards the sky, he said, "Why are you doing this to me? Don't I deserve to have what others have been gifted?"
At the present time, Aramis decides to do some pushups.
"1... 2... 3..." he starts counting.
Every day he pushed himself, hoping something would trigger his powers to awaken.
He ate certain foods. He tried different techniques. He even made several wishes. And yet, no good results came about.
"Am I doing something wrong?" he thought to himself.
Suddenly the ground beneath him shook. Aramis quickly got up to his feet as the trees behind him swayed funnily.
A scream was heard in that same direction.
"Someone's in trouble," Aramis said. At the same time, he saw a little boy running out in the open.
"Better start running!" the boy shouted over to him as a big two-legged monster appeared.
Its body resembled a T-Rex. There were no arms visible, rendering the creature armless. The head shared more similarities to an eel. It also had some teeth attached close to its nostrils and chin.
"Don't you have any powers or special abilities!?" Aramis shouted back.
"What do you think, genius!?" the boy responded as the monster swallowed him whole.
Aramis screamed as his eyes widened, and his tongue waved out of his mouth.
"He probably was a late bloomer," he thought. "Bad time to be one."
"Well, gotta go save him."
Aramis charged at full speed towards the monster. He yelled while raising his right fist in the air.
The monster spotted him and just stared. It raised an eyebrow as it plainly sat on its bum.
"Don't worry, kid-" Aramis was swiftly whacked backward by the monster's tail. He flew through the air before hitting a nearby tree face first.
The monster snarled, which sounded more like laughter, as Aramis slid down the tree back onto the grass.
"This is why I wish I had powers," Aramis thought to himself while regaining focus from the pain inflicted on his body. "The pain is unbearable."
