Noah gently shook Cody awake as they made their way back to their apartment at the end of the night. He had to drag his intoxicated roommate back home, and now that they were there, he realized that Cody was still half asleep.

"Hey, wake up," Noah said quietly while nudging him. "We're home now; let's get you to bed."

Cody merely groaned in response, but after a few more attempts, Noah finally succeeded in rousing his friend from his slumber. He guided Cody up the stairs and into their apartment, where he helped him into bed before tucking him in.

As Noah prepared to exit the room, suddenly he felt a hand grab his arm.

"Noah, wait," Cody whispered sleepily. The drunk boy looked at him through slightly unfocused eyes.

Noah gives him a confused look, but still listens to him. As he sits down on the bed waiting for his roommate to explain what's wrong.

"Thank you Noah, I had fun tonight."

Cody moves towards Noah and hugs him tightly.

Noah struggled with his conflicting emotions as Cody's body pressed up against his own and his friend's arms wrapped around him in a tight embrace. He was surprised to find himself enjoying the contact, but he felt equally conflicted.

Should he push Cody away? Or should he let him hug him for a little longer?

His thoughts were interrupted by Cody's drunken words, and Noah felt his heart racing. "Hey Noah..." Cody said, his voice slurred. "You know that I love you, right?"

Noah's breath caught in his throat and his heart jumped to his throat. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Was Cody actually professing his feelings for him right now? While he was drunk? Could this be real?

Cody was still clinging to him tightly, his chest pressed up against Noah's own. Noah remained completely motionless, unsure how to respond. He was confused, but he couldn't deny that he enjoyed this. What did he really think of Cody? He can't actually have feelings for him right? He's his roommate, his best friend!

Cody lifted his head, but he kept his arms tightly wrapped around Noah, his drunken breaths tickling Noah's neck. "You know I've always loved you, right?" Cody whispered again, his voice thick and uneven.

Noah felt like his heart was beating out of his chest, but he didn't move. He was frozen in surprise and confusion, utterly at a loss for words.

Suddenly, Cody placed a gentle kiss on Noah's neck.

"Cody you're drunk."

Noah's mind was spinning with all the unexpected emotions that had come rushing through him. He took a deep breath, trying to get his head in order.
There'd be time in the morning to figure things out. For now, he just wanted to sleep.

He quietly unlooped Cody's arms from his body and walked out of his friend's room. He felt his heart flutter as he shut the door. What had just happened? Were those really Cody's true feelings? Could this be the start of something new between them?

Noah's thoughts continued to race as he walked away.
