The smell of food woke Emily from her informative slumber.

"What is that smell?" She inquired, still half asleep.

"Fried chicken, macaroni and corn on the cob."

"Sounds delicious. How long have I been asleep?"

"About 4 hours."

"Why didn't anyone wake me up?!"

"You looked so peaceful that neither one of us wanted to disturb you." He said as he gave her a chaste kiss. "Besides, it gave Manny plenty of time to visit a few prisoners and make sure they are getting excellent treatment."

There was a crooked smile and a spark to his eyes when he said that. It let her know it wasn't the "excellent" type of treatment she ever wanted to get.

"You look like you want to join in on this treatment."

"I do."

"Then why aren't you there?"

"Three very good reasons."

She waited a moment hoping he would continue, but when he did not she knew she would have to ask herself or he would not explain.

"What are the reasons? Or am I not supposed to know?"

"It isn't that you're not supposed to know exactly."

"Then what are the reasons?"

"Reason number one, we have agreed that one of us needs to be with you when you wake up. Reasons number two and three will explain why it is me that chose to be here for you.

"I don't need a babysitter Sal, I am an adult."

"We know. It is just that you have never been here before so we figured you might get bored and wonder off. This way I can show you around and keep you entertained."

"Alright, as long as you agree that I don't need a babysitter, you can continue."

He smirked at her and continued, "Reason number two, my "excellent" treatment is different from his. There are several people in charge of the treatment, each takes their turn being in charge of the treatment. After everyone has had their fill of being in charge, I will then be the last person in control."

"No one person is exactly the same, so it would make sense that their taste for torture is also different. So what is the last reason?"

"The last reason is also why I will be the last person in charge. We have agreed they need to be alive to receive said treatment. When the time comes I will not be able to hold back for too long."

"That makes sense." She took a couple bites of her food and resumed, "Can I ask what these people did to deserve your wrath?"

"Tortured an innocent child."

"As someone who was hurt as a child, they deserve every minute of special treatment."

"Glad you agree."

"Have they said why they did it? Or did they do it just because they could?"

"......"

"I mean if it were my parents, I would like to know if they had a legitimate reason for doing it, or if they were just assholes."

"What would you accept as a legitimate reason?"

"Possession."

"You mean being possessed by demons?"

"Yes. No. I don't know."

"Growing up kids are taught that demons and ghosts are evil. I am sure there are some demons that are evil but that dont mean every demon should be considered evil just because a few are. I know that better than anyone."

"You do?"

"Are you saying that you and your brother are evil?"

"We can be if we are needed to, but I do see your point. So if you had the chance would you want to know? Would you ask them?"

"Ask who what?"

"Ask your parents if they were just being dicks or if they had a reason."

Emily slowly chewed her food and thought hard about the question. She had been abused in almost every way imaginable as far back as she could remember. That meant that she was even abused before her memory even started. A part of her really did want to ask them why they did what they did. She knew the only way to get the answer to that question was by seeing them again and asking them herself. However much she wanted that, she knew she was not ready to face them. Maybe one day she would have the strength to look them in the eyes without wanting to break down. She also knew they had a way of manipulating everyone around them, including herself.

A part of her loved them because they were her parents, but that was a very small part. The rest of her loathed them for all the abuse, both physical and mental. They had a way to make her believe she was the cause of her own abuse.

Since she had met Sal and Manny, she had slowly come around to accept the fact that she was not the reason, that she deserved to be loved and protected. That even if she acted like a brat once in a while as a child like any normal child does, that would not be a good enough reason for any of the things that they had done to her.

The more she thought about it, the more she wanted answers, but not just yet. She wanted to be in a good mental state before facing them.

"One day, maybe, but not right now."
